56: How to Thrive During a Pandemic

Yoga is forever a practice of going deeper and deeper internally.  How can we find peace during the unknown today and at the same time create the future of our dreams?  There are numerous examples of spiritual leaders who remain not just calm in chaos but are blissed out regardless of outer experiences.  How can yoga help us not just be more joyful during chaotic times but also move towards a future where we can be more joyful and have less chaos surrounding us?  I will give you a hint, meditation is part of it, but this mediation may not be what you are thinking - especially if you don't like to meditate.  This shit is fun.  Thank you for listening.  Om Shanti.  www.onyxyogastudio.com  www.shannonelliottyoga.com  shannon@onyxyogastudio.com

55: Healing and It's Power

Healing is an internal journey, but what are we looking to accomplish, how do we do it, and what's the role of the yoga practice in assisting?  I use a definition from David Elliott to begin the conversation:  "Healing is a journey back to our natural state of balance and harmony that is called Love."  It for sure starts with beginning to contemplate celebrating being human and not simply looking to transcend.  The merging of the soul and our human experience is the way.  This podcast discusses how we can begin or continue on our journey back into wholeness.  Thank you for listening.  Om Shanti.  www.onyxyogastudio.com  www.shannonelliottyoga.com

54: Saint Thecla: A Super Bad Ass Woman

I recently learned about Saint Thecla.  She is talked about in "The Acts of Paul and Thecla."  This is a story of a woman who is whole, courageous, badass, and mostly a being that chooses and exudes love.  This is a human story of reaching our own potential because we have the courage to go inside- merging the soul and the human body through the heart.  I feel deeply called to have people know her story.  While I have read some of her scripture and used some different sources most of my information came from the book "Mary Magdalene Revealed" by Meggan Watterson.  While this only has one chapter on Thecla, I highly recommend this book.  For me, learning more about Mary Magdalene and Jesus together has begun powerfully putting together the pieces to the puzzle I never understood from the Bible.  It is the missing half, bringing wholeness to the Bible and its teachings.   It has made so many of these stories and their meaning come alive deep in my soul.   I sincerely hope you enjoy.  Om Shanti.

53: Embracing Your Humanness

One of the greatest gifts we have and one of the things we can most often forget- is our humanness.  What does it mean to be an evolved human being? What is the value in paradox, obstacles, saying thank you with whatever you are being presented with? How do we deal when we participate in self-destructive behaviors and dark energy exchanges? And most importantly- how can we continue to trust, live, thrive, and play with our life- making a courageous imprint on the planet doing our individual work while collectively evolving into our home state of unconditional love.  Thank you for listening.  Om Shanti.  www.shannonelliottyoga.com; www.onyxyogastudio.com

52: Cleanse and Self Care

For many of us, self-care and cleansing can come with deprivation, overindulgence, and just straight-up aggression.  If you are interested in cleansing, nourishing, and possibly re-defining this practice take a listen.  It will not only change the energy you put out and what you look like to others, but it will also connect you to your soul soooo deeply that your insides are awesomely blissed out.  Experiencing this level of vibration, of being alive, is a gift to the Creator (whatever you believe that to be.)  What better way is there than to say thank you by supporting and caring for your insides in such a connected way that we get to live and lead what each one of us was personally made to be.  Expanded, Love, Joy, and Purpose.

Thank you for listening.  Om Shanti!

51: Purnatva, Yoga, Love

Purnatva is a word that simply lights me up.  Purnatva means you have everything you need and everything you need you have.  It is whole and perfect, and is your Truth.  This conversation comes with what perfection is, how it may benefit us to redefine it, and what it means to live life fully alive.  I have a deep and continually growing relationship with Purnatva, and this is one of it's joys- we constantly get to redefine meaning, karma, and love.  Thank you for listening- Om Shanti.  www.onyxyogastudio.com  www.shannonelliottyoga.com

50: Vulnerability

In episode 50, after almost a year break, I simply uploaded a recording after coming out of a deep breathwork meditation.  I figured as I make my entry back into the podcast world I could talk vulnerability or I could simply be vulnerable.  So there you have it.  I reference two people, Tiffany Curren and David Elliott- as this happened to be the specific breathwork I was doing at this time of deep revelation and healing.  Thank you for listening.  Om Shanti.

45: Habit related to nature's law
When we understand that an object in motion stays in motion until something stops it, and an inert object stays inert until something moves it- we see how much power and access we have to redirecting ourselves when necessary. I am talking about habit- but for me, when I look at it regards to nature verses the actual personal Shannon habit, I find it much easier to take action where needed. In Episode 39 I pass on a teaching from Babaji Satyanarayanas Dasa from the Jiva Ashram in Vrindavan India. Its an in-depth discussion about the understanding that if you work according to your nature life will be easy. Sounds nice, but what does that really mean? And how do you do it? 38: The Body is the Greatest Creation
"From the Couch Friday!" on a Wednesday. This share is on about when we get harsh on ourselves, our behaviors, our physical attributes, and we get in a rut of not feeling great about ourselves. I came across a great reading on how to love the body, unlearn the things that haven't helped us, and how to connect deeply and feel the love, awe, and joy not just in nature and others but in and towards yourself as well.
