Question for you: How much do you believe in YOU?
If answering this question makes you feel uncomfortable or feels like you’re facing some personal flaws, you are not alone. Far too often those of us doing the difficult work of equity and inclusion allow ourselves to see everything in our orbit as positive except for ourselves.
Limiting beliefs can be so much more damaging than your perception of yourself - they can actually HINDER your progress and path toward making meaningful, powerful, impactful decisions and changes in your community.
In this episode, I’m looking at 3 limiting beliefs and how to overcome them. Here’s a preview of what you’ll learn:
🔑Three common limiting beliefs that many leaders have about themselves
🔑The damage limiting beliefs about ourselves and our ability as leaders impact the culture of our organization as a whole
🔑Practical and easy ways to combat these limiting beliefs in order to be a strong, reliable, and motivational leader.
Like Cady Heron said in Mean Girls “The limit does not exist” and yours shouldn’t either! Hit play and enjoy!

Have you ever felt not good enough? Not smart enough? Not… ENOUGH? That’s called imposter syndrome, and way too many of us are living with it. Imposter syndrome is when, despite our many accomplishments, our wall of degrees, and our career success, we believe that we are inadequate.
Living with imposter syndrome can be absolutely crippling, especially when it comes to the work of equity and inclusion. We can reduce ourselves to seeing our work as just… and I don’t mean fair, I mean we see ourselves as JUST a Mom, JUST a teacher, JUST a business person. This mindset of “just” lets us settle for less than and allows us to believe that we can only make small changes because we are JUST one person.
On today’s episode, I’m here to tell you that is NOT the case. Being just one person can make a whole lot of difference - you just have to believe in yourself. I’ll also be covering the history of Juneteenth, talking about the importance of perseverance when it comes to accomplishing seemingly impossible tasks, and hooking you up with 13 questions designed to help you build bridges, make connections, and get to know friends, and family, coworkers, and strangers better as you reflect on your work in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Hit play for an informative episode sure to help you continue to make big changes in your community.

Sometimes there are people in our lives who we will never forget because they CHANGE us. If you’re an educator or someone whose work directly services others, you know this better than most. On today’s episode, I’m sharing how my experience with one outstanding student had a profound impact on my style as a leader then and continues to influence me in the present. I’ll also be covering the importance of understanding the depth of your impact as a leader. As a company or school leader, you’ve got to make big decisions; often with those big decisions comes big responsibility. We’ll be talking all about how to make decisions that honor your quest for inclusivity and push back on the status quo that tells you you’ve got to maintain control and dominate every situation.
Here are 3 key takeaways you won't want to miss:
🔑Step back and determine: What is working and what isn’t? When it comes to being a leader, checking in with yourself and your initiatives, goals, and progress (or lack thereof) is integral to your progress and growth. If you’re feeling a little stuck and ineffective, take stock of what you’re doing that is working WELL and what isn’t. Make changes from there!
🔑Identify where you are NOT practicing intentional inclusivity and change it. This is a big one, and it requires a big amount of work. If you’re not sure where to begin when it comes to identifying where you’re not being intentional with your inclusivity take a look at national statistics and identify where women and people of color are most excluded, marginalized, and straight-up silenced. Then, be intentional about fighting back against that.
🔑Let go of practices and habits that don’t serve your mission, vision, or values. Are you struggling to identify exactly WHAT is holding you back from being your very best? Be intentional about your intentionality. That’s right people, journal, reflect, make time where it needs to be made, and understand that the work you do is IMPORTANT.

Happy June! It’s officially the start of the summer and an amazing time to reflect on the past season of life. So often seasons of life - whether they align with the ACTUAL seasons of the year or not - align with major changes. And major changes come with big decisions… and big decisions can come with a lot of pressure. It’s alllll connected. Sometimes the pressure to make a decision - one that will impact you, your family, or those you work with, can feel so overwhelming that you feel frozen and are unable to do anything. We’ve all been there. On today’s episode, we’re talking all about how to make decisions that will help you move forward and continue to make progress in your life so you feel empowered and confident.
Here are 3 key takeaways you won't want to miss:
🔑Healthy guilt is good guilt! That’s right people, the pressure you feel to make solid and empowered decisions is a good thing. However, good guilt is a slippery slope and can quickly turn into shame if you don’t keep it in check. Allow your guilt to be a motivating factor and not something that allows you to spiral into despair or harsh self-judgment.
🔑Follow up on your feelings. Here’s the newsflash of a lifetime: feelings are not facts - no matter how much we think they are! It is important to identify the FACTS of your situation before you move forward so you can make a solid decision.
🔑Make a decision! One decision can mean big changes. If you’re feeling stuck in your career or personal life take stock of what is really holding you back and identify ONE thing you can make a decision about. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be surprised how much progress you being to make!
