062 - Kenny Bednarek: The Road to Gold
Kenny Bednarek is an Olympic Track & Field Athlete who placed silver in the 200m in the 2020 Olympics. This was my first ever conversation with an Olympian. Truly one of the best in the world, if not the best, at what they do. What a feeling that has be. The. Worlds. Best. How many people can say they’re the best out of 8 billion people in the world? And I think that feeling can go one of two ways. One that goes towards Selfishness or one that goes towards Gratitude. And there’s no doubt that Kenny is living in Gratitude. You’ll leave the episode rooting for Kung Fu Kenny this summer in Paris. A few of my favorite moments from ep: “I just want to be a chill guy who comes in to work and dominate - and leaves."I fucking love this mindset.   “My mom - she means everything because if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be in this position.” This is Gratitude.  Kenny talking about his mom was my favorite part of the episode. What an amazing woman.   “I want to be the best that's ever done it when it's all said and done. That is my why. That's what motivates me. Just perfection. I want to the one that no one's ever been able to touch.” We all need to think bigger about ourselves and what we want to achieve. And we need to be more shameless about it.   “I also have my own massage therapist that I use every week.  His name is Robbie. He's a very chill guy. Shout out to Robbie. He's more a friend too. And I started taking him out to meets here and there cause he's a chill vibe and that's what I need. I don't want to go to meet all amped up.” Understands the importance of vibes and the people you surround yourself with.  Way more important than most people realize.(P.S. If any other Olympian needs a vibe guy for Paris - let me know where to submit my resume) Kenny's LinksTwitterYoutubeInstagram   00:16 What It's Like Being One of The Fastest People In the World 04:10 Track and Field's Influence Across the Globe 06:42 The Rigors and Rewards of Professional Training 10:03 The Journey from High School to Olympian 21:18 Impact His Mom Had On Him 27:44 Adapting to Professional Life and Nutrition Changes 32:56 Discovering the Joy of Cooking 34:32 Exploring Unconventional Foods and Their Benefits 36:14 The Athlete's Diet: Pre-Race Meals and Nutrition Strategies 39:34 Seeking Expert Advice: Having Nutritionists and Personal Care 43:21 Understanding the Athlete's Mindset and Preparation 49:17 Investing in the Future: Property and Bitcoin 01:01:08 The Road to the Olympics: Training, Goals, and Expectations   My LinksTwitter Instagram
