The Wisdom Collective Podcast
The human body and writing something new. Creativity, intuition and philosophy.

Author, poet, teacher and musician Joe Williams entered into inquiry with Rosa and Daniela to explore his question: what is the relationship between the human body and writing something new?

Joe teaches intuitive writing using a deeply moving and transformational approach that is predicated on connecting with yourself, the world and others to create raw and revealing writing.

The only guide we had for this conversation was the starter question, and an inquiry-based dialogical approach to explore philosophical threads and themes.

In this episode, the question leads us to discussions about, among other things, the body both as a feeling (emotions) thing but also in terms of movement in relation to the creative process. We consider the importance of the relationship between abstract thinking and feeling into the body in relation to those abstract concepts - how do they affect each other’s development? We touch on AI, and think about the question of creativity without a biological body, and the implications for human creativity. As philosophical dialogues usually go, we sit together in discomfort while exploring the depths of that discomfort in relation to development of the thought through dialogue.

Chuck the Facilitator!

In this episode, Rosa and Daniela chat to Pieter Mostert about his proposal that we 'chuck the facilitator'. We discuss the role of the facilitator, and explore different ways of thinking about the place of the facilitator in a philosophical dialogue. This conversation was inspired by a series of workshops hosted by The Wisdom Collective, exploring the relationships and similarities between Bohm dialogues and philosophical approaches, and what, if anything, they can learn from each other. Some of those conversations will be published in due course.

A lot of the techniques we discuss are taught by The Philosophy Foundation - please visit http://philosophy-foundation.org to find out more about the excellent training they offer.

What is art? Art in relation to others and provocations.
On today's episode, Rosa and Daniela discuss the question 'What is art?' We look at the example of a member of the public putting his glasses in the corner of a room in the art gallery, and drawing attention from the gallery visitors as though it were an installation, to think about artist intent, thought provocations, definitions, and the meaning of questions. We discuss whether the question matters at all, the relational quality of art, and the social nature of the practice of creating. What does green taste like?

We invite James onto today's episode to lead a 'Focusing' session around the experience of... drinking nettle tea!

Join us on a journey as we explore the different sensory experiences that give rise to a number of philosophical questions and ideas - from bodily knowledge, to the taste of colours, to the monarchy and power relations.
