The problem is the way you build an online business is DIFFERENT for people who already have a very successful offline biz and career.
There is a challenge specific to offline successful people that is often the reason they are struggling. It is hard to see the solution from "inside the bottle".
And there is a HUGE strength you have but may be ignoring. This advantage means you can market and sell your online offerings faster and with more ease, but is devalued in online spheres because it is seen as "offline" and so somehow seen as cheating!

I've been obsessed with learning about the science of productivity lately and how to "hack" my own brain to do the things I find tedious. So I thought I'd share the productivity combo that is working really well for me to get work done on my business.
WHY FOCUS ON FOCUSING?
I know this sounds crazy for someone who has built and grown an online business for well over a decade... but I really DO NOT LIKE sitting and working at my computer!
Let's face it though, writing a post like this, communicating with an assistant to delegate tasks, writing sales letters and emails, social media posts, reviewing and giving feedback on client work etc are all things you need to do to run and market a business online.

When you build a website for your online, service-based business, the first decision you need to make is what website address you will choose (a.k.a. URL, or Domain Name). After all, this is is the link you will use in all your marketing, your conversations and your emails. It will also determine your brand logos, colours and how you think and feel about your business.
No pressure! In this episode I walk you through the decision pros and cons of 4 different options and some ideas to mix and match if the decision seems impossible to make.

4 Brand Options
In this episode I'm going to start with a few assumptions.
Firstly I'm going to assume you are either an existing or future customer of mine.
This means:
If you haven't made the above decisions yet, then only one of the options below is a sensible thing for you choose (Personal Name). Otherwise you're wasting your time and resources, and very likely will need to renovate your brand when you get greater clarity.

This is your name. If you can't get your name as a URL (like www.janetbeckers.com) then try something like YourNameCoach.com or YourNameAuthor.com or similar.

Existing Business Brand
If you already have a business with a website or even just a name you have been using for quite a while you may want to use this. For example something like www.YourSuburbCounselling.com or www.GenericUmbrellaServices.com.

You can always own your existing business name Domain Name and when your business website is complete, redirect your www.YourGeneralExistingBusinessName.com to your Contact page or a specific business information page on your new website.
Your Niche / Ideal Client Name Brand
If you work with people in a specific niche or who have a specific problem you can claim a domain with that title in it. For example www.BounceBackFromBreastCancer.com or www.MoneyMindsetSolutions or similar.com.
Pros:
How many times have you set yourself a great goal for your business (like build a million dollar business, or launch a podcast etc ) and the not achieved it?
Maybe you've even planned out exactly how you're going to do it, even set timelines, how to measure etc (hello SMART Goals).
And still never quite reached your goal?It's frustrating, humiliating and it makes it even harder to set another goals because, let's face it, history shows you're going to fail anyway (am I mind-reading?).
