In Season 4 Episode 8, I am joined by Valentin- a 23-year-old medical student from Munich with a growing passion for exploring the world at a human pace. Though he’s only been studying medicine for a year, some of his greatest lessons have come from the road. Last year, Valentin traveled from Germany all the way to Timor-Leste, a journey spanning over 13,000 kilometers (8,077 miles) — and he did it entirely without taking a single flight.
His route took him through the heart of Central Asia and the Middle East, crossing borders that many travelers only ever read about. From Europe into Turkey, through the deserts and ancient cities of Iran, across the rugged landscapes of Pakistan, and into Afghanistan, Valentin continued moving east — guided by curiosity, trust, and the belief that the world is far more nuanced than the headlines suggest. Ferries, buses, trains, shared taxis, hitchhiking — every transition became a story in itself.
For Valentin, travel is not just about seeing places, but about seeing himself more clearly. The road became a mirror. The people who welcomed him, the uncertainty of not knowing what comes next, and the slow passage of time all shaped his understanding of who he is and how he wants to move through the world. Tune in today to hear more about this EPIC adventure!

In Season 4 Episode 5, I’m joined again by returning guest Jin from Malaysia (check out Jin's first episode on Season 3 Episode 13), a traveler whose story began with an unexpected twist. What should have been an ordinary family trip became the spark for a new way of life—when the vacation ended, Jin simply chose not to return home.
Growing up in the coastal town of Mersing before moving to Singapore as a child, Jin did everything “by the book”: studied hard, earned a degree, and built a stable corporate career. But after seven years behind a desk, the conventional path no longer felt right. Trading comfort for curiosity, he set out to see the world on his own terms.
To keep the journey going, Jin volunteers at hostels through platforms like Worldpackers, exchanging work for accommodation and gaining something far more valuable—time to slow down, connect deeply with people, and truly experience life in each destination. His travels have carried him across Europe and Latin America, each place leaving a mark on his perspective and personal growth.
In today’s episode, Jin takes us through his latest chapter: six unforgettable months in Brazil. From Carnival in Rio to life in Manaus and adventures deep in the Amazon, he shares the moments that made this country one of his most transformative experiences yet. Tune in today!

In Season 3 Episode 15, I am joined by Brad- an American English teacher and content creator from Indiana with a lifelong passion for travel and culture. His connection with Spain began at 17 during a two-month exchange program, which inspired him to study Spanish at university and eventually move abroad.
In 2021, he came to Spain to teach during the pandemic but returned home at the end of the year due to COVID. Back in the U.S., he spent a year working odd jobs—from waiting tables to doing fieldwork in ecology and archaeology—but felt a strong pull to return to life abroad.
Since 2022, he’s been living in Spain—first in Almería, then Galicia for the past two years—where the experience has been deeply transformative. Living abroad has helped him find himself and create a life that feels 100% his own, even through its challenges. He’s traveled to France, Portugal, the UK, Morocco, Canada, and across the U.S., and hopes to explore South America and Asia in the coming years. His love for travel runs deep—he even wrote a book in first grade called “I Want to Go to Greece” (still on the bucket list). In Season 3 Episode 14, I am joined by Katie who turns out to live not too far from me back in the US. Additionally, when we recorded the episode, we actually happened to be a 14 minute walk apart from each other in Medellín, Colombia....small world indeed. Anyways, Katie is a 23-year-old full-time traveler from Pennsylvania who’s been chasing adventure ever since studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. During those five unforgettable months, she explored France, Italy, Portugal, and England—and that’s when the travel bug officially bit. Katie knew then and there that she wanted to find a way to travel full-time after graduation.
That opportunity came sooner than expected when she decided to hike the Pacific Crest Trail—a 2,200-mile journey from Mexico to Canada. Despite having only camped once and zero backpacking experience, Katie dove in headfirst. Over five months, she walked the entire trail, sometimes covering more than 30 miles a day.
Now, Katie funds her travels with savings from her work as an EMT—a job she picked up during school while planning to apply to PA programs. Though her path changed, the job turned out to be the perfect fit, allowing her to work just seven weeks a year and travel for the other nine.
At the moment, Katie is solo-traveling through South America until June. After that, she’s headed back to Europe for three months to host a group trip in Portugal and hike the Camino de Santiago in Spain—just another chapter in her ever-growing adventure. Tune in today!

In Season 3 Episode 13, I am joined by another world traveler- Jin from Malaysia. Jin's journey into long-term travel began unexpectedly. What was supposed to be a simple family trip turned into a turning point—when the vacation ended, Jin decided not to go home. Growing up in the small coastal town of Mersing, Malaysia, before moving to Singapore for school at eight years old, Jin followed the conventional path: study, graduate, and work a stable corporate job for seven years. But something always felt off. The idea of settling down in one place, following the script laid out for him, felt more like a cage than security.
What started as an impulsive decision became a lifestyle. To sustain his travels, Jin volunteers in hostels through platforms like Worldpackers, exchanging work for accommodation. This slow-travel approach allows him to go beyond just visiting places—he immerses himself in local cultures, builds connections with strangers, and experiences the world in a way that isn’t possible through quick vacations. From backpacking through Europe to living in Latin America, each destination has been a chapter in an ongoing story of self-discovery.
Now, Jin is sharing that journey online on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Telling stories of his learnings and personal reflections. Whether it’s uncovering hidden cultural ties between Malaysia and Mexico, capturing the energy of Brazil’s Carnaval, or reflecting on fleeting romances, Jin hopes his content resonates with people who dream of something more. As he works toward making content creation a sustainable career, Jin hopes to keep traveling, keep creating, and keep proving that there’s no single right way to live a life. Tune in today!
