Since the pandemic started in March 2020, about 9,000 gyms have shutdown for good due to tough restrictions set in place that completely cut memberships and revenue away for gym owners.
At that very moment, the fitness industry went from mostly being a physical in-person kind of business to virtual and video type of business.
Today, high tech companies like Peleton, Mirror, and Fight Camp have been great examples of what high tech/low months subscription based workouts can look like.
Boutique gyms and studios can do it in a similar way by bringing content and videos that customers can enjoy as well.
In today's world and moving forward, it's a good idea for gyms to have a hybrid model of online and in person memberships. Those two worlds are now integrated and neither are going away.
Personal training can still be the same, but I also think mobile trainers will become more of a business with trainers bringing the equipment via a commercial van and/or arriving at home gyms to offer services.
