After the entity infiltrates their camp and begins absorbing and perfectly imitating the men, extreme paranoia takes hold, as no one can be sure who is still human and who is the "Thing." The remaining men desperately fight to expose the alien before it can escape the base and assimilate all life on Earth, leading to a desperate final confrontation in the frozen isolation.
