This episode is for every creative who’s ever felt like they’re winging it day after day…scrambling to post, plan, and run a business without a real system behind it. Today, I’m sharing what it really looked like behind the scenes in the early days of my business (spoiler: it was chaotic!), and the breaking point that made me finally take systems seriously.
So, if your to-do list lives in your head, your content strategy is “whatever comes to mind”, and you’re constantly playing catch-up, then this episode is for you. You’ll walk away knowing there’s a better, simpler way to run your business, and you don’t have to do it alone.
What We Cover in this Episode:
Today’s Takeaways:
- Your brain was made for creativity, not for storing every launch timeline and content plan.
- Planners are great…but systems are what actually scale your business.
- You don’t need more motivation, you need a structure that supports you.

This week’s episode is a bit of a real talk! I’m right in the middle of my biggest launch to date, so there’s a lot going on behind the scenes. However, I’ve intentionally made this launch feel lighter than any launch I’ve done before. And that’s even with school holidays, twin toddlers, and a to-do list that’s still very much growing.
So I wanted to share why it feels different. Because I haven’t magically gained more time or fewer responsibilities (actually the opposite!). But I’ve made three shifts this year that have completely changed the way my business feels, even during the busiest seasons.
If you’ve ever felt like launching or running your creative business has to come with a side of burnout, I hope this gives you a bit of breathing space, and maybe even a new way to approach things moving forward.
What We Cover in This Episode:
The myth that hustle = success (and what actually works instead)
Why “priorities over perfection” changed everything
The simple systems to save time and energy
How “good enough” can actually help your business grow

What if the smartest move you could make in your creative business…was to do less?
In this episode, we're flipping the script on the "move fast, launch fast" narrative and exploring what it really means to stay focused, even when new ideas feel more exciting. Because sometimes, chasing everything means nothing grows, and patience is the best strategy.
If you’re the kind of creative who gets a million ideas a day (and wants to act on all of them immediately), then this episode is for you!
We're talking about the moment when something feels slow or hard and you're tempted to switch gears. Start a new project, launch a new offer, or just…escape the discomfort of sticking with what you’ve already started.
Whether you’re feeling scattered across too many projects or just wondering why things aren’t “clicking” yet, this episode will help you rethink what focus can do for your business, and how to practice strategic patience even when it’s uncomfortable.

If you’re anything like me (or, every client I’ve worked with this year), your creative brain is on fire - constantly full of new ideas, dreaming up big projects, and planning 18 different launches…if you had the time!
But when everything feels urgent and exciting all at once, it’s easy to get stuck in that frustrating cycle of starting a million things…and not finishing any of them.
In today’s episode, we’re talking about idea overwhelm and what to actually do with all those ideas, and how to turn creative chaos into calm, focused momentum. I’ll share my go-to system for managing the idea overwhelm, how to know what to prioritise, and permission to pause without guilt.
This one’s for anyone who’s ever felt like their brain is too full to make progress!

Have you ever typed something into Etsy, like ‘wall art print’ or ‘birthday card’ - only to be hit with thousands of results? Suddenly, your brilliant product idea feels tiny compared to the sea of other shops already out there. It’s easy to think, “What’s the point? It’s already been done.”
But being small doesn’t mean being invisible. And a saturated market doesn’t mean you can’t grow. In fact, it often means the opposite. It shows that there’s demand, that people are buying, and that there’s absolutely space for you to carve out your corner.
In this episode, I’m sharing how to reframe oversaturation and what it really means for you as a small creative business owner. Plus, I’ll walk you through the tools and mindset shifts that will help you find (and keep) your slice of the pie.

You’ve heard me talk about evergreen content before (see Episode 12), but today we’re going deeper. If short-form content has you exhausted and the daily posting cycle isn’t working for your creative business, this episode shows you how to step off the hamster wheel and build evergreen, searchable content that drives traffic and sales over time.
If you’re feeling burnt out by the algorithm, you’re definitely not alone! In this conversation, I walk you through a calmer, more sustainable way to grow: Pinterest, Blogging, and YouTube used as evergreen, search-driven engines, plus how to connect discovery to sales with a simple email follow-up system. You’ll hear real, practical examples (think: what to actually pin, what blog posts to write, which YouTube videos work long-term), a transparent look at my own early Pinterest results, and how I’ve started repurposing transcripts to boost SEO without adding hours to my week.

You’re ticking things off the to-do list, showing up online, keeping the orders going out the door… but everything still feels a bit chaotic. Like you’re always reacting rather than building with intention.
If that’s you…you probably just need systems that actually support your business with your life.
In this episode of Flourish: The Creative Business Podcast, we’re talking about how to build a business that works with your real life — whether you’re juggling parenting, a full-time job, chronic illness, or simply don’t have hours and hours to dedicate every week.
This isn’t about rigid schedules or doing more, it’s actually about doing less, but better. I’m sharing how systems helped me build a sustainable creative business while raising young children, and how you can start creating structure in a way that gives you back your time, energy and creativity.
Whether you’re an illustrator, designer, maker, or creative entrepreneur, this episode will help you reframe how you think about systems, and why they’re the quiet backbone of a business that lasts.

If your content feels a little ‘meh’ lately and your sales have slowed, maybe it’s not you…maybe it’s that your audience is no longer aligned.
Ever poured your heart into a product or offer that you knew was your best work yet…only to be met with tumbleweeds? You’ve posted about it, emailed your list, shared in stories, but the engagement just isn’t there. It might not be your product, your price, or even your marketing. It could be that the person you think you’re talking to…isn’t actually the person you’re meant to be speaking to anymore.
In this episode, I’m breaking down why your ideal customer isn’t a fixed point (spoiler: they evolve just like you do) and how to know if you’ve outgrown the audience you started with. We’ll talk about what happens when your offers or products stop landing, how to check if your audience still matches your ideal customer, and the four grounding questions that’ll help you rebuild your customer profile without all the fluff.
Whether you’re feeling a bit disconnected from your audience or you’re gearing up for your next launch and want to make sure it lands, this episode is your nudge to pause, realign, and reconnect with the people who are exactly right for the version of your business you’re building now.

This one's for the creative business owners who’ve been hearing the phrase “multiple income streams” and wondering: “What does that even look like for me?”
In this episode, I’m walking you through ten different income streams that could work beautifully for artists, illustrators, and handmade sellers, from digital products to coaching, commissions to Patreon, YouTube, and more. I’ll give you the real talk on what’s scalable, what’s sustainable, and what’s definitely not for everyone.
You’ll also hear a few stories from my own journey, including what worked, what burnt me out, and what I’d do differently next time. Take what fits, leave what doesn’t, and know that one well-built stream is better than ten leaky ones.

- Thoughts on YouTube, brand deals, affiliate marketing and coaching

- Digital products and memberships can offer freedom, but only if you promote them more than once (hint: automation helps!).

And don’t worry - if you're feeling overwhelmed, we’re keeping it simple, actionable, and totally doable. This is the exact approach I would give to myself if I could rewind time and start my business all over again.
