As the show has continued to grow, change and my purpose of what I am trying to communicate gets more clear I have decided to work on a rebranding project. This will include a name change with a lot of similar content with more focus and purpose! My goal is to make the show even better, easier to find for those searching for help with mental health centered around their work. And I feel particularly qualified to help entrepreneurs struggling with burnout. My hopes are that by taking a more direct approach I can reach those who need it and help so they don't have to make the same mistakes I have. So stay tuned for new and improved content!

In this latest episode I reflect over recent conversations and film I recently watched! In life it is interesting how some of the most important and monumental things can happen through series of small actions of periods of time. What if we applied this principle to improving our world. What if as individuals we focus on simple small acts of kindness consistently. How much better of a world could we live in years from now? You're actions today no matter how small they seem are part of shaping the worlds future. Choose to make it a good one.
Films referenced are available for viewing at the Cleveland international film fest and online to stream at clevelandfilm.org 3/31/22 -3/10/22.

Quote from the Dalai Lama, " When asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered "Man! Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die; and then dies having never really lived."
This single quote is the focus point of this episode. One of my favorite quotes I keep printed out above my desk to read daily.
I ALMOST missed a recording session day. It would have ended my streak of releasing two episodes a week minimum every Tuesday and Thursday for 2022. And the truth is, I had the time to record and was struggling to make myself do it. Now I am not going to claim this episode is by any means my best work but I think the message could be absolutely invaluable. That message is simply this... real progress is made in showing up and doing what we know we have to do even on the days we don't want to do it. Read that as many times as you need and then decide where you need to take action.
In todays episode I discuss a simple method to develop healthy habits and eliminate the bad ones! Notes referenced in this podcast are from the book "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. Sometimes in life even with the best plans and intentions things don't work out exactly like we want them to. Being able to give yourself grace when not meeting personal expectations can be very important for your mental well being. This episode is a follow up to the tips given in episode 18 on how to do more of the things you want. I discuss the reality of even when following my own plan well the expectation I had set and the actions I took were not quite in full alignment. This recording is an honest evaluation of how we sometimes fall short of our own expectations and by taking the time to evaluate them we can achieve more of what we set out to in the future. I hope you get some great ideas from this episode to help with your life and get to fully enjoy and experience more of what you want!
I decided on the topic of this episode as I was trying to organize my thoughts around leaving town for a vacation in just two days. I was starting to feel overwhelmed with my responsibilities at work and home seeming to pile up. So this seemed like a relevant topic to discuss as I am sure others have also felt the stress about taking time off in exchange for personal time. In this episode I go over 5 points to help you better manage your work/ life balance. Making time for yourself should be a priority as we serve others the best when we are at our best. Enjoy and lets connect on Facebook or Instagram at Finding Self with Jake! I would love to hear your thoughts on this episode and any tips that work for you!
