In 2021, Terri founded APX Platform (Aesthetic Practice Accelerator), a training and analytics business analytics platform, combined with community that transforms an aesthetic practice into a data-driven business. APX combines five powerful components into one easy-to-use cloud solution that: optimizes employee productivity via on-demand Sales, Finance, and Operations training courses; translates EMR/Practice Management data into actionable KPIs via financial calculator templates, industry benchmarking; and provides on-going business coaching and mentorship via live coaching sessions with Terri Ross and her team.

What will you learn?

-How your P & L should be broken down

-Why it is important to understand your revenue per hour

-Why you and your team need to be trained in business and how to sell

We are so excited to bring this jam packed episode to you with Terri Ross the Founder and Co-CEO of APX Platform and Terri Ross Consulting. Building on that we discussed her years in sales and becoming a top producer and eventually finding her way into the C-Suite. We discuss investing in personal development in order to be at the top of your game and the hard choice that women who are Type A sometimes feel they have to make when they are climbing the corporate ladder or are delving into entrepreneurship. Further, we talked about her exciting time as the 8th employee at Cool Sculpting before they went public and how she really honed her skills there before making the decision to leave and focus on personal matters. Ep 46: "Throw Out the Trends, the "Cool Mom", & the Sacredness of Art"

Tik-tok, coming off as the "cool mom" (but are you really cool?), art and storytelling.  We are so excited to bring you this brand new episode with none other than world renowned artist Kevin Cease. We talk about his work rendering precise anatomical drawings for various training corporations throughout the country. Further, we explore his experience of dissecting cadavers and scanning them for 3-D rendering and how that process was a sacred one. As a person obsessed with quality over quantity, he offers tips on standing out in the space as an aesthetic provider, to not be like everyone else, the power of telling your own story and how in order to succeed you have to be willing to go bigger than you think your wallet will go.

Leave us a review on Apple! This episode is not to be missed.

@kevincease

https://www.kevincease.art/

About Kevin Cease:

There are two kinds of people: Those that can feel potential and move on a powerful idea, and those that question from fear and need to be shown the final result.

When you learn this, it will effect who you decide to bring into your creative circle.

I have worn many hats, and enjoyed the challenges presented behind every one of them. Ok, maybe not all challenges, but most! I love problem solving artistic projects... from commercials, sketch comedy and live production, to medical illustration, 2D/3D animation, compositing, and modeling.

My background includes many types of production. I went to Academy of Art University for animation. I have and continue to study extensively with online schools such as Gnomon School of Visual Effects, School of Motion, Fly On the Wall studios, and many others. I believe we live in a time where most universities and private colleges are driving students into debt without providing a practical education in art and animation. There are now much better programs coming out with real mentors and teachers who work in the field, and they don't put students into financial enslavement for the rest of their life. I myself am always available to anyone who comes to me for advice of any kind, especially youth and aspiring artists who are trying to find their path in the art field.

If you are interested in working with me, don't hesitate to reach out. Please note my schedule is typically booked out pretty far in advance, so there is a level of commitment required when you decide it may be time to start a project with me, and a bit of urgency to initiate the conversation as to not miss my next window of availability.

Today we have the "Chankla" Queen herself, Dr. Zoe Gazola DNP, an indigenous Mexican woman who is the owner of The Indigo Clinic, based in New York and Miami. In this episode, of course we jokingly speak of internet trolls, how so many people are keyboard warriors and make online assumptions and conclusions and how important it is to uphold our truth no matter the cost. After starting off in a very playful way, we get into the very serious topic of the treatment of minority skin in medical aesthetics and how Dr. Zoe's personal experience caused her to pivot and now run a very successful practice that is over 80% people of color. We talk about what can be done in marketing, training, and what steps the FDA has now taken to ensure that skincare for minorities is now more inclusive of people of color.

Do you think your industry chose you, if so, why? What does it mean to be truly committed? How do we ensure that our teams are learning about important business concepts and not becoming stagnant in one way of thinking? We dove into some of these concepts and more with Dr. Joelle Lieman, OBGYN, sexual wellness expert and owner of Elite Medspa in Needham, MA. Ep 42: "Shoot for Your North Star & The Renaissance of Expertise"

This episode is literally a mini MBA.

Is expertise dead? Are we catering way too much to the patient and not upholding our years of expertise and experience in the consultative process? Do we truly understand what profit means and how to allocate capital within our aesthetic practices? What is our guiding, overarching purpose? These questions and more were answered with the precision of a professor in an MBA course by Don Maree the President of Alumier MD in the United States.

We had the most scintillating conversation, and even if you just listen for his accent, the episode is entirely worth it. We talk about business as being a vehicle for good and how every single person that you bring onto your team has to be better than you, smarter than you and the danger of "hiring ourselves". In addition, Don spoke about the importance of separating tactical and strategic work as a leader and how everyone needs to have their North Star and have all of their strategic and tactical goals surround this.

At 27:44, listen through as we geek out considerably over the Alumier MD skincare and how Alumier MD's anti-diversion system puts the power back into the hands of Medical Aesthetic practitioners and increases their bottom line results.

Ep 41: "The Game of Business & The Beauty of the Work"

As seen in Shape, VOGUE, New York Times, Today and other major publications...we bring you a treat! Today you are in for sharp lessons on business, the pursuit of aesthetic excellence in the work with this beauty raised in New York, Dr. Jennifer Levine, MD. Not one to be intimidated (she was the only female on a floor of 20 men when she started her surgical residency), we follow the fascinating story of how she got into medicine, her grueling years in medical school, and her no nonsense approach to being a master of her craft, but not "showing" the work. As an multi-faceted artist (she is amazing at calligraphy!) she talks about how her practice of various forms of art informs her surgical practice. As a business owner, Dr. Levine also emphasizes the importance of diversity of thought and surrounding yourself with people who have the business acumen to help you succeed. She also talks about the importance of hard numbers, and understanding what your benchmarks are to win in the game of business.

Dr. Jennifer Levine is an award-winning, double board-certified  facial plastic surgeon, world-renowned beauty expert and steadfast innovator.

When she started her surgical residency at Lenox Hill in 1995, she was the only female among 20 men, and prior to her career as a cosmetic surgeon,  she was a professional calligrapher — proving that not all doctors have bad  handwriting.

From an early age, Dr. Levine has had a profound appreciation for beauty,  precision and mathematics, solidifying her future career in aesthetic medicine. She believes that beauty is both a science and art — and prides  herself on her proprietary “Art of the Assessment.” Her patients know that when they’re in her office, they’re in the presence of mastery — the ultimate expert in symmetry.

In addition to running her Manhattan private practice, Dr. Levine is an  attending plastic surgeon at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and Lenox Hill Hospital.

Dr. Levine’s passion for innovation earned her recognition from the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, who named her Vice Chairman of the Board for Emerging Trends in Technology in the Cosmetic Industry and Co-Chair at the 2021 Masters of Facial Plastic Surgery.

Earlier this year, Dr. Levine was invited to join an esteemed cohort  of fellow female physicians as part of Merz Aesthetic’s BeHer empowerment  collective. In this episode we explore her path of varying disciplines and how it lead her to the heart of them all...the human design approach to understanding the soul and why we do what we do.

We meander on her path of wanting to become a Doctor, then onto being the understudy of one of the top NYC ballet dancers in the country, then to her path of aesthetics. In this episode we explore energetic hygiene, the history of human design, the sickness of consumption and not knowing self which is why there is so much imitation in the industry and not enough art.

This episode is NOT to be missed.

About Mikaela:

Mikaela is a Master Aesthetician of the aura who nurtures and restores both the physical and energetic radiance of her clients.  After nearly two decades in the field, her spiritual evolution has enriched her aesthetic philosophy.

With an extensive medical background in dermatology & plastic surgery, specializing in lasers, Mikaela once subscribed to the commonly accepted "beauty is pain" ideology; however, she now sees her life's work in aesthetics in an auric light, rather than a strictly clinical one.

Formerly a ballet dancer at the School of American Ballet, Mikaela practiced the art of conducting energy within the body, expressing that which is etheric in nature through shape and movement of the physical form. She thus gravitates toward an aesthetic that is graceful, ethereal, and most importantly, uniquely one's own.

Through her work with Human Design, she holds the space and vibration for her clients to embody their most whole, authentic selves. Mikaela maintains that "beauty is energetic” and synthesizes an array of modalities together including Human Design, astrology, Yoga Nidra, crystals, essential oils, reiki and vibrational sound-healing to help people radiate from the inside, out.

Mikaela believes that everyone deserves beauty: to see it, to feel it, and to witness it bloom from their very essence, rippling out to positively affect the world

Ep 37: "Bookkeeping, "Girl Bosses" and Boundaries"

Today we are so excited to have Beth Blaney, owner of Beth Blaney and Associates Bookkeeping and Remote Office Support who is a unconventional, hyper intelligent woman who has built a book keeping practice from scratch over the past decade after a fruitful career in a tech startup.

In this episode, we get really raw as she talks about her motivation for starting her business, and how the passing of a loved one showed her that she was not here to play small. In addition, we discuss the term "girl boss", if the modifier is needed and Beth recounts the story of her Grandmother who was a WW2 Nurse and the experience she had with her male superiors which taught Beth that anything is possible.

Of course as we geeked out over business, numbers and cyber security insurance, Beth emphasizes the importance of not commingling funds from Day 1, starting with the end in mind when you are operating your business, setting boundaries with clients and to always remember that you are NOT the business (if you want true growth anyways). She also talks about the importance of understanding the role that your Bookkeeper and CPA play, how they are not the same (even though it can overlap with a CPA) and how important it is for your financial team to work together.

This is not an episode to be missed! Full of practical knowledge, business tips and great stories.
