Today we are so excited to have Beth Blaney, owner of Beth Blaney and Associates Bookkeeping and Remote Office Support who is a unconventional, hyper intelligent woman who has built a book keeping practice from scratch over the past decade after a fruitful career in a tech startup.
In this episode, we get really raw as she talks about her motivation for starting her business, and how the passing of a loved one showed her that she was not here to play small. In addition, we discuss the term "girl boss", if the modifier is needed and Beth recounts the story of her Grandmother who was a WW2 Nurse and the experience she had with her male superiors which taught Beth that anything is possible.
Of course as we geeked out over business, numbers and cyber security insurance, Beth emphasizes the importance of not commingling funds from Day 1, starting with the end in mind when you are operating your business, setting boundaries with clients and to always remember that you are NOT the business (if you want true growth anyways). She also talks about the importance of understanding the role that your Bookkeeper and CPA play, how they are not the same (even though it can overlap with a CPA) and how important it is for your financial team to work together.
This is not an episode to be missed! Full of practical knowledge, business tips and great stories.
