In this episode of the Becoming Her podcast, Fe Jones shares how intentional journaling can help you overcome lies, reinforce truth, and create lasting change in your life.

Learn how to use two specific types of journals: a vision and goals journal that turns your dreams into actionable steps, and a truth and lies journal that helps you confront negative thoughts and replace them with God’s Word. Discover how the brain’s ability to rewire itself, known as neuroplasticity, aligns with the biblical call to renew your mind (Romans 12:2).

Why Christian women burn out is not random. It follows patterns you can see and break. Scripture from the NLT grounds every strategy so you can work from peace instead of chasing it. #24-The Cost of Overgiving: When Serving Others Drains Your Soul

You love God. You serve well. You carry others through storms like it's your spiritual assignment. But what happens when the very people you're helping start to drain you dry?

This episode is for the woman who's tired of being available for everyone but herself. The one who’s always the strong friend, the fixer, the emotional life raft—and secretly wondering why she feels so depleted after “doing the right thing.”

We’re confronting the hidden cost of overgiving.

You’ll learn how to recognize the subtle signs that your soul is being drained by one-sided relationships. We’re unpacking the difference between godly service and self-sacrifice that leads to burnout. Spoiler alert: not everything that looks spiritual is actually healthy. Sometimes what we call "faithfulness" is really fear of letting go.

This is where biblical truth meets psychological clarity.

You’ll hear a real-life example of what happens when discernment gets overridden by obligation—and how to recognize when you're being used rather than genuinely valued. You’ll get the tools to set boundaries without guilt, using wisdom straight from Scripture—not self-help fluff. And you’ll finally understand why rest, restoration, and recovery are not optional. They’re holy.

This isn’t a message about pulling back out of bitterness. It’s about rising up with clarity. It’s about becoming the kind of woman who serves from overflow—not emotional debt.

If you've ever felt like helping others is hurting you…
If you've noticed you feel physically exhausted or spiritually numb after certain conversations…
If you're afraid that saying “no” will make you less “Christian”...

This episode is your wake-up call.

You’ll also hear how strength isn’t just about setting spiritual boundaries—it’s about stewarding your physical and emotional health. That’s why we’re highlighting powerful tools to support your journey, from movement that builds mental resilience to supplements that restore what burnout tries to steal.

You're not selfish for protecting your peace.
You're not disobedient for walking away from dysfunction.
And you're definitely not weak for needing space to heal.

Play this episode.
Share it with the women who keep showing up without being seen.
And prepare to shift from overgiving to overflow.

#23 - The Perfectionism Trap – When Excellence Becomes Your Enemy

You keep calling it “excellence.” But deep down, you know it’s perfectionism.

You’ve got high standards. You want your work to reflect the greatness of God. But somewhere along the way, your gift for excellence started to feel more like a burden than a blessing.

Now? You’re stuck in a cycle of overthinking, overworking, and never releasing.

This episode is for the woman who can’t hit publish.
For the one who keeps tweaking the same project.
For the one who’s tired of procrastinating in the name of “getting it right.”

It’s not that the work isn’t good—it’s that the fear is louder than your faith.

Perfectionism doesn’t just affect your productivity. It affects your view of God. It twists His voice into criticism and pressure. It convinces you that nothing you offer is good enough unless it’s flawless. And while you’re stuck editing and polishing, the moment God prepared for impact is passing you by.

This episode exposes the spiritual distortion behind performance-driven perfectionism—and how it often disguises itself as holiness. Learn how perfectionism can mask fear, create burnout, and keep you from fulfilling your assignment.

You’ll also hear the powerful truth that broke the cycle:
“Did you do your best? Then cast the net.”

Because what transforms lives isn’t perfect work—it’s released work.
Work done with obedience. With heart. With faith.

If your constant striving is leaving you depleted instead of empowered, this episode will help you:

  • Recognize when perfectionism is hiding behind “high standards”

  • Break free from fear-based delay and mental gridlock

  • Rebuild your rhythms with peace, obedience, and clarity

  • Stop editing your way out of impact

You don’t need more time. You don’t need another draft.
You need to release what God already approved.

Press play. This one’s not just healing—it’s a confrontation.

#22 - When Purpose Feels Like a Chore: Recognizing Cognitive Dissonance & Realigning with Your Calling

What if the very thing you’ve been pushing yourself to do—pouring your time, energy, and heart into—was never meant to be done that way? What if the resistance you feel isn’t a sign to push harder, but a call to pivot?

There comes a moment in every high-achieving woman’s journey where she has to make a choice: stay where it’s comfortable, where people expect her to be, or step into the unknown and realign with something greater.

Most people ignore that moment. They force themselves to keep going, to keep showing up, even when something deep inside is screaming, this isn’t working anymore. But the women who truly step into their next level? They listen. They pay attention. They have the courage to shift—even when it means changing everything.

If you’ve been feeling the weight of something that once felt effortless… If you’ve been questioning whether it’s time to restructure, refine, or completely let go… If you’ve ever felt trapped between who you were and who you are becoming—this episode is for you.

Because the difference between staying stuck and stepping into alignment isn’t working harder. It’s something else entirely.

#18 - Trauma Culture in the Church

In today’s episode, we’re stepping into a conversation that’s both urgent and necessary—addressing the undercurrents of trauma culture that can exist within our church walls. This is about shedding light on the hidden hurts, about finding a path to healing together.

In the midst of our faith walks, we sometimes stumble upon paths shadowed by pain. This shadow, known as trauma culture, can seep into our church communities, often unnoticed, subtly undermining the sanctuary we seek in our spiritual homes.

Trauma culture in the church is a silent storm. It's where harmful behaviors and toxic beliefs, often cloaked in piety, can cause deep spiritual wounds. It’s where authoritarian leadership smothers personal growth, where shame becomes a tool for control, and where genuine spiritual guidance is replaced with manipulative rhetoric.

To confront trauma culture, we must first recognize its signs. They can range from a stifling hierarchy that leaves no room for questions, to emotional tactics that chain hearts with fear rather than freeing them with love. It's when accountability is absent, and the voices of the hurt are silenced.

For newcomers to the faith, this culture can be jarring. Instead of a community of compassion and growth, they encounter barriers to the spiritual nourishment they came seeking.

So, how do we uproot this culture? It begins with awareness and education, ensuring that every member, especially leaders, understands the impact of trauma culture. We implement accountability, not as an afterthought, but as a pillar of our structure. We cultivate safe spaces for open, fear-free dialogue. We listen—truly listen—to those who've been affected. And crucially, we commit to reform, even when it means reevaluating long-held practices.

Our faith should be a cradle of support and a bastion of personal growth, reflecting the grace and compassion that's at the heart of our beliefs.

As we wrap up, remember this: Tackling trauma culture is more than necessary; it's a reflection of our commitment to each other and to the essence of our faith. Let's be the architects of a renewed, loving church culture where everyone can find a safe haven for their spiritual journey.

#17 - Trauma Culture In The Workplace

Join us today as we uncover the insidious nature of trauma culture in the workplace. Learn how this silent enemy affects productivity, morale, and the mental well-being of employees. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain crucial insights into a pervasive issue that could be lurking in your workplace.

This culture's aftermath causes a vicious cycle of fear, silence, and pain. We must acknowledge the harm it inflicts and work towards breaking the cycle.

To truly thrive, we need to cultivate an environment where creativity and joy can flourish. Unfortunately, past and ongoing trauma often stifles these essential qualities. That’s why we are dedicated to identifying and addressing hidden obstacles in our professional settings to build a community where everyone can thrive.

The workplace is at the top of the list of places where one should feel safe. Unfortunately, sometimes, the workplace becomes a breeding ground for mistreatment that can range from subtle microaggressions to overt harassment and discrimination. This mistreatment can take on many forms, such as a manager publicly belittling an employee, which can create a cycle of humiliation.

It can also be the systematic dismissal of employee well-being, such as expecting staff to work late without recognition or compensation. We must create a safe and respectful workplace culture where all employees feel valued and respected.

The signs of a trauma culture in our workplaces are hard to ignore. High staff turnover, widespread absenteeism, low morale, lack of enthusiasm for new projects, and overall distrust and disengagement are all red flags. It is not uncommon to observe a lack of support from management, a palpable tension in the air, and symptoms of burnout becoming the norm rather than the exception. Worst of all, too many people accept the status quo and resign themselves to "the way things are." We must recognize and openly acknowledge these signs to create a thriving and supportive work environment where everyone can flourish.

Working in a toxic work environment can have devastating effects on individuals and ultimately lead to a negative impact on team performance. When employees are exposed to a hostile work environment, they may experience anxiety, depression, or a sense of isolation, leaving them feeling unsupported and disconnected from their colleagues. This emotional turmoil can lead to physical symptoms, such as headaches and insomnia, which can significantly affect their performance. Furthermore, this negative atmosphere can spill over into their personal lives, causing damage to their relationships and overall quality of life.

When a culture of trauma plagues a workplace, the consequences can be equally damaging for the team. The team dynamics can become disrupted, much like a malfunctioning body, where each part is affected by the ailment of the other. This leads to a lack of harmony and function, where communication breaks down, collaboration becomes forced, and natural innovation dwindles. The constant undercurrent of stress, in turn, saps the team’s spirit and morale, leaving the group's collective potential unfulfilled.

As we conclude our discussion today, it is crucial to remind ourselves that the culture of trauma, although prevalent, is not something that cannot be changed. Every individual holds the power to contribute to a more nurturing environment, encouraging growth and healing for all. Our responsibility is to foster a culture that values and uplifts every individual, creating a community that thrives on mutual respect and care. Let us make a conscious effort to cultivate an environment that supports our fellow beings, and together, we can make a positive impact and bring about a positive change.
