Akiko Iwasaki, a Yale professor and Howard Hughes Investigator, was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2024. Together, we reflect on how diverse backgrounds enrich research, allowing people to discover different things in the same data. Akiko explains how leading large collaborations requires managing expectations, not micromanaging the research. She compares her work of studying complex conditions to solving multilayered puzzles: each new piece of evidence must be pl...

    The Rationable Podcast
    Abhijit Chanda
UFOs, or rather, UAPs, have been in the news a lot lately, mostly thanks to the US Congress discussing the matter with three ex-military people who claim they have evidence for non-terrestrial spacecrafts. In other words, aliens. This hearing gave the movement a lot of legitimacy. But do we really have evidence for aliens visiting Earth? I speak to Brian Dunning, creator and host of the Skeptoid podcast, about UFOs, aliens, and the quality of evidence we have. It just so happens, Brian's non-profit company has released The UFO Movie They Don't Want You to See, and has done a lot of research into astrophysics, space flight and a lot of claims of UFO sightings. If you want to believe, or already do believe in aliens and UFOs visiting our planet, you need to hear what Brian has to say.

    Get The Bug
    Umberto Diecinove

I’m Umberto Diecinove, I am a documentary photographer and a filmmaker. And – for a while now – I’ve been investigating the potential role of insects in the solution of some of the global challenges we’re currently facing.

To do this, I’ve been traveling around the world, taking photographs and talking to world experts, visionary entrepreneurs, activists and people working in the field.

Welcome to Get the Bug Podcast, where you can listen to the conversations I recorded during my journey.

Farming insects could reduce the agriculture need for land and overfishing in the oceans, but also lower greenhouse emissions and help smallholder farmers, in developing economies, to depend less on expensive imported feed.

So… what if insects are the next game changers?

Join me for this insightful conversation on the potential of insects to make the world a better place, and the lessons we can learn from nature to build a more sustainable future for generations to come.
