لا يتردد الدكتور يونس عوض الله، طبيب الأطفال الذي قارب على السبعين من عمره، في القول إن "العمل الإنساني لا يمكن التقاعد عنه". فبعد مسيرة حافلة استمرت 43 عاما، عمل خلالها في المملكة العربية السعودية ووزارة الصحة الفلسطينية ثم اليونيسف، قرر الدكتور يونس التقاعد في نهاية عام 2021.
لكن هذا التقاعد لم يدم طويلا. فمع تصاعد حدة الأزمة في غزة، وعودة ظهور مرض شلل الأطفال، قرر العودة إلى الميدان. هذه العودة لم تكن مجرد مهمة وظيفية، بل كانت، كما يصفها، "رسالة وفاء" لمهنته، ولأطفال غزة، وللمؤسسة التي منحته الكثير.
كانت عودة الدكتور يونس مدفوعة بـ "إحساس داخلي عميق بالمسؤولية والانتماء". وقال لأخبار الأمم المتحدة: "شعرت أن خبرتي ومعرفتي الميدانية الطويلة يمكن أن تحدث فرقا في هذه الأوقات الحرجة".
قصة الدكتور يونس كانت محور فيلم بعنوان: "الخطر الصامت في غزة" أعدته منظمة اليونيسف بالتزامن مع اليوم العالمي للعمل الإنساني. تؤكد المنظمة أن الفيلم يعد بمثابة شهادة قوية على صمود العاملين في المجال الإنساني الذين يتصدّون لمخاطر النزاع.
يتتبع الفيلم الوثائقي - ومدته 32 دقيقة - الدكتور يونس عوض الله، الحائز على تكريم "قائمة TIME100 للصحة"، وزميلته فيروز أبو وردة، اللذين قاما، خلال فترات قصيرة من وقف إطلاق النار العام الماضي، بتوصيل لقاحات منقذة للحياة للأطفال في جميع أنحاء قطاع غزة.
