Here at WAM, our mission is Making Feelings Fashionable.

For all time, women have been called hysterical, crazy and 'over' emotional. We teach you that your emotions are in fact your superpower. Starting from the launchpad of anger, the most taboo of feelings for women. Each week, psychotherapist Jennifer Cox and writer Salima Saxton invite a brilliant woman to talk about what makes them mad, and come to understand that our feelings are our compass and rocket fuel. With the Women Are Mad podcast, women finally have a space to laugh about, celebrate and learn from their previously unpopular feelings.

Follow us on @womenaremad on Instagram and tell us what makes you mad.

S8 E9 Briony May Williams: unstoppable inspiration!

Our guest today is the infectiously inspiring TV presenter and celebrity baker Briony May Williams.

The first visibly disabled baker on The Great British Bake Off, Briony has gone on to become an established BBC star. She's also a dedicated champion of disability charities, from Reach to Children In Need. We talk today about the initial discomfort of seeing herself as an advocate and representative, and of how growing up in the 80s meant that her formative identity was unequivocally can-do.

Briony's first cookbook, The Retro Recipe Society, a veritable bible of comfort food, is out now!

Women Are Mad
S8 E5 Julie Mae Cohen on resistance and revenge

Julie Mae Cohen is the master of feminist revenge fantasy. Today, Jen is without Salima's steadying influence, and goes fairly rogue - 'inviting' Julie to take a turn around the more chaotic borders of WAM's garden. Where they 'enjoy' sights which include the spooky (and hilarious?!) realms of the afterlife, a light smattering of politics and the shadows of true crime. The best of times. And if you like this, you'll LOVE Julie's latest revenge thriller, Body Count, where a socialite muddles romance with homicide. Just up your street!

She's WAM to the core, and we revel in her wisdom and worldview. Thank you Adele, for your wit and warmth. And for bringing us your sensational new book Our Beautiful Mess (you might have read it by now, as it was an INSTANT Sunday Times Bestseller, and we're a bit on the back foot after allowing ourselves a break - what? A BREAK?! Women having A BREAK?? But this book certainly buoyed up our summer...)

S8 E3 Otegha Uwagba on insides and outsides

The WAM Fam is reunited! There's quite a lot of excitement back at base about this, admittedly.

But we're maybe even more excited about our guest: the brilliant Otegha Uwagba — bestselling author, culture journalist, and Grazia columnist. Otegha is the author of Little Black Book: A Toolkit for Working Women - a career guide which became a cult classic - as well as the critically acclaimed We Need to Talk About Money and Whites: On Race and Other Falsehoods. She now writes Culture Debrief, a brilliant column for Grazia UK, where she dissects the stories shaping our culture today.

We loved this rich convo, exploring identity, cultural emblems and the psychology of self.

Women Are Mad
S7 E10 Why The World Needs Jess Davies More Than Ever

Continuing WAM Book Season...

Our guest for today became known originally for her modelling career, after competing in the final of the Miss Wales Beauty Pageant. Once it emerged that nude pictures of her had been used to con money out of men all over the world, Davies used the talent she’d cultivated as a then broadcaster to trace the impact in her BBC documentary WHEN NUDES ARE STOLEN.

Furthering her campaigning for women’s rights and body positivity, her debut book ‘No One Wants To See Your D*ck’ explores the rise in online misogyny and how to tackle it. WAM hugely recommends.

S7 E9 It's WAM BOOK MONTH! With the excellent Christine Murphy launching us into orbit...

WAM is a happy home to many great writer pals, which is why we wanted to honour the tradition properly ahead of the summer, and bring you a month-long special to prep you for a season of great reads!

We're kicking off with US author Christine Murphy and her debut novel, Notes On Surviving The Fire, described by The New Yorker as having:

'A thriller's bones, a satire's glare, and a comeuppance story's anarchic spirit'

We absolutely love Christine, her book and this conversation, but do need to offer a warning that the episode contains graphic descriptions of rape.

S7 E8 Stella Duffy on life, death and belonging

Stella Duffy OBE is a without doubt a household name - whether you know her through her countless theatre productions or novels, or through her activism. What she brings to this conversation is deeply personal however, sharing her experiences of illness, her struggle to have children, and how she's come to know herself through the existential psychotherapy she's now trained to provide.

We adored speaking with Stella on this vast and expansive range of topics. Whatever your state of mind or mood, this is just the convo to bring you something deep and important.

S7 E6 Dr Charlotte Proudman takes WAM to court

Dr Charlotte Proudman is a fearless defender of women and children's rights in the family court. She's also made a name outside the courts, having to defend herself in the face of attempts by some in her profession to shut her down personally.

In this episode, Charlotte speaks to the ways the legal system punishes women - including Charlotte herself. She eloquently and movingly describes the emotional impact of the vital work she does, and where her passionate need for justice comes from.

We're excited to let you know that Charlotte's book, 'He Said She Said: Truth, Trauma and the Struggle for Justice in the Family Court' is out NOW in hardback.
