Set in an array of settings ranging from intimate talks in the Awakened Forest to national conferences, concerts, broadcasts and various public events over the years, Andrew shares a challenges people to learn to truly live, and even embrace the struggles and heartaches along the way…and somehow reconcile and integrate the Day and Night, Pleasure and Suffering… Andrew Reed is a True Outlier… Andrew has gone about as DEEP as possible, through personal will, as well as through “events” into the PROFOUND of the Experience of Life. He has accomplished much in worldly terms and in a number of fields, including music, the arts, healthcare, business, wilderness adventurer, scientific research, Alaskan commercial fishermen, consultant/teacher to over 10,000 CEOs and executives, etc. But his life is also littered with almost every catastrophic loss imaginable from the loss of 2 children in accidents, loss of health, loss of a few fortunes, loss of wives & loves, and loss through natural disasters of hurricanes and forest fires. Add in - bear attacks, gunshot fragments in his head, being swept overboard a few times nearly drowning, escaping from fires nearly killing him, having multiple breakdowns and such add to the color to the philosophical topics and practical, pragmatic advice shared… He has been described as a creative rarely seen, with accomplishments in music and the arts as well as being an expert on creating and operating World-Class organizations. What Are You Willing to Throw Your Life Away On?
Ep. 19: Our Actions Come from Deep Within Us

A night-born and perhaps SCANDALOUS idea: your ACTIONS don’t start on the surface—they rise from DEEP WITHIN! From a spontaneous moment on the Mountain—under a shooting star—walking past the emerging Church of Reconciliation, Andrew offers a third “sermon on the mount” and invites you to listen inside. He speaks of making Space—to see more clearly—where NATURE is THE Master Teacher of how Life actually works… that we must reconcile Both Halves (Light and Ash), accept Consequence, and take Responsibility for what we Do.

The human impulse toward Moral Superiority is a dead end. Instead, Andrew urges Daily Kindness, Honest Self-Assessment, and the Courage to act from a higher Consciousness—to become Self-Reliant, to raise our Conduct, and to align with Reality’s push–pull world. Respect Tradition and Institutions… and still Advance the Race with your own Contribution.

What Are You Willing to Throw Your Life Away On?
Ep. 18: The Value of a Vision to Create FOCUS

VISION!!! Often seen as “squishy” -  a waste of time, especially if you’ve sat through “Vision Statement Creating” meetings. However, Vision is, in fact, one of the most VALUABLE things a person, as well as an organization, can make! Why? A great Vision can change your LIFE! Literally! It seems that Human beings need a “Bright Horizon” to look forward to! Without a Life-Giving Vision, people perish!

In this episode, Andrew Reed dives into one of the most misunderstood — yet essential — elements of building a great organization: Vision. Far from being corporate fluff or an exercise in branding, Vision is described here as the foundational force that creates FOCUS. Without it, individuals lose direction, teams lose energy, and entire companies drift.

Broadcasting from a mountaintop in the Awakened Forest, Andrew shares how a compelling vision transforms not only organizations, but people. It sharpens decision-making, boosts morale, and fosters the kind of culture that outperforms competitors. From startups to M&A transitions, this episode explains how Vision informs Design, Culture, Leadership Development, Compensation, and Accountability — and how to build one that actually motivates real advancement.

Chapter Markers

(00:00) – Intro

(01:09) – The Power of Focus
A compelling vision cuts through distraction and drives discipline.

(03:32) – Vision and Human Psychology
Why people need a horizon to avoid despair — in life and business.

(06:55) – Visions that Break Addictions
Stories of personal transformation through bright, motivating goals.

(08:15) – Vision Informs the Leader
The clearer the vision, the more it shapes who the leader must become.

(13:13) – Courage Before Clarity
Vision often demands risk — clarity comes only after action.

(17:03) – The Studio That Started With a Vision
A personal story of grief, insight, and an improbable success.

(19:47) – Vision at Every Level of an Organization
Departmental, site, and team-level vision matters just as much as company-wide purpose.

(24:13) – M&A Success Depends on Vision
Why 75% of acquisitions fail — and how vision flips that script.

(26:50) – Culture, Empowerment & Spiritual DNA
How MultiView’s vision-centered model transforms organizations from the inside out.

(29:21) – Vision vs. Committees
Committees kill clarity — vision must be owned and accountable.

(31:52) – Building Around the Vision
From recruiting to measurement: design backward from the outcome.

(36:55) – Accountability & Quantification
Vision is empty without standards, data, and meaningful consequences.

(38:44) – Outro & Next Steps
Encouragement to craft a vision that motivates, aligns, and delivers results.

What Are You Willing to Throw Your Life Away On?
Ep. 17: Your Beliefs Are Limitations!

A dangerous idea: your beliefs don’t just guide you—they limit you. From a spontaneous night in the Game House to a walk toward the Church of Reconciliation, Andrew argues for temporarily suspending belief to see more clearly: Nature as Master Teacher, moral superiority as a dead end, and courage as the path to self-reliance. Voltaire, Emerson, Whitman—and the char of real forest fires—frame a simple challenge: expand the boundaries of what you believe or be confined by them.

Chapter Markers
(00:12) The Question — Why this series exists; toward intelligent life, beyond institutions.

(01:05) Thesis Stated — “Your beliefs are limitations”; spontaneous origin of the message.

(02:08) A Dangerous Position — Suspending belief; why it shocks norms and traditions.

(03:30) Moral Superiority — The trap of lording beliefs over others; back to Nature as teacher.

(05:04) Scars in the Forest — Fire, loss, and building a “holy ground”; Voltaire’s counterpoint.

(06:20) Voltaire to Emerson — Challenging belief systems; fully actualized living.

(07:44) I AM & Presence — Divinity within and around; question every command.

(09:01) Infinite Variety — No two alike; shape your own beliefs with courage.

(10:09) Fear & Boundaries — Beliefs as perimeters; expand your map of reality.

(10:52) Reverence & Autonomy — Honor tradition, then interpret life for yourself.

(11:36) Opinion ≠ Truth — Everyone can be wrong; truth isn’t a vote.

(12:11) To Yourself, Not Converts — Come to your own powers; stop the victim card.

(12:50) Full Tuition — Strength, education, self-reliance; no shortcuts.

(13:14) Higher Conduct — Stand on convictions, avoid agitation; practice acceptance to think clearly.

(14:45) Beyond Belief — Can you wipe the slate and choose what’s worth believing?

(15:05) Expansion — Beliefs shape vision; stop artificially limiting yourself.

(15:52) The Real Question — You’re spending your life anyway—on what? Close & thanks.

What Are You Willing to Throw Your Life Away On?
Ep. 15: Giving Yourself a Break

As part of living an Intelligent Life, Andrew proposes that we need NEW definitions of Productivity… that even in our times of rest or reflection, we are making progress… In fact, Productivity is perhaps overrated…as we NEED the GAPS, the PAUSES, the BREAKS from the routine to have BOTH halves of the Process of Life… In these Breaks, we often discover ourselves, sort out our true feelings, and find a new or renewed VISION for our lives… Only in these GAPS do we find rest, sensitivity, reflection, and simple joy—all essential to an Intelligent Life. Though it is a true success pattern to make written lists, there is also equal value in being “listless” sometimes… Discovering pleasure in “ordinary tasks” such as washing dishes, cleaning, or sitting with coffee. Andrew explores the role of Attitude and why progress often occurs in the “dry” seasons. With stories of Uncle Earl’s slow but ultra-high-quality craftsmanship, a hermitage healing in the Black Forest, and Mother Teresa’s “epic and dry,” he invites you to slow down, listen to Nature, and notice that you might be making more progress than you think.

(00:00) Intro

(01:05) Focus vs. Listless — Lists help us focus; there’s also value in being “listless.”

(02:04) Ordinary Joys — Washing dishes, warm water, lemon-scented soap; enjoying the simple.

(02:53) Luxuriate & Step Out — Give yourself a break; step out of the hustle and pleasing others.

(03:54) Rethinking Productivity — Overemphasis on success; learn the “lower ebb” of rest.

(05:21) No Rushing, High Quality — Uncle Earl’s methodical pace; quality over haste.

(05:52) Reflect & Reconsider — Taste your food, feel your body; ask the central questions.

(07:29) Choose Your Attitude — Hostile vs. light-hearted: “What is life trying to teach me?”

(09:00) The Hermitage Story — Black Forest retreat; getting sensitive and recovering.

(10:35) Epic & Dry — Mother Teresa’s insight; breakthroughs grow quietly in “dry” seasons.

(12:25) Counsel & Close — Give yourself space; relax; you’re making more progress than you suspect.

What Are You Willing to Throw Your Life Away On?
Ep. 14: He Found Himself/Sailing

From the Songstage Studio, Andrew talks about the song “He Found Himself.” This song is Andrew's story in 3 1/2 minutes! It's about Andrew “waking up” one day and realizing he REALLY didn’t like the corporate rat race he was on! Coming out of a difficult divorce, he purchased an old broken-down cabin and fixed it up with his own 2 hands!  Andrew’s cabin is akin to Henry Thoreau’s on Walden Pond. There is something truly “liberating” when one takes the time to remove themselves from society…to really find out what one wants from their Life!

“Sailing” is perhaps one of Andrew’s BEST songs! It seems that most people get wrapped up in the “destination” or goal and fail to enjoy the Journey! And thus postpone Happiness for a future date…which may never come… This song carries the listener into risk, wind, waves, and immensity of the sea…but also brings a deep awareness of “Life IS its own Reward—Life IS its own Answer! And that BOTH the Destination and Journey are needed and are perhaps of equal value. Andrew also discusses the AMAZING VIDEO, shot on Super-8 movies by his Skipper…Uncle Chuck, which shows true pioneers of Alaska in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s!

These two songs begin Andrew's album "Search for Significance": https://open.spotify.com/album/0yKEqidP2h4BDu8wcMVdLX?si=fqTZJ12AT6i960idNsvy1w

Chapter Markers

(00:00) Intro

(01:05) Music focus: Search for Significance; why “He Found Himself” and “Sailing”

(01:44) Exhaustion → retreat: the cabin, fixing it by hand; “hermitage” and isolation

(02:57) Nature as master teacher; renewal, life/death cycles; authentic video around the cabin

(04:13) Re-recording and orchestration: making it “a bit more epic”

(05:12) “He Found Himself” (performance)

(08:09) “Sailing”: imagery, risk, and the zen of the journey

(10:35) “Life is its own reward”: vessel-as-alive; reverence for things that carry us

(11:56) Destination vs. journey: vision matters, but joy belongs to the ride

(13:37) Super-8 family archives: Alaska work, boats, danger, pioneers; “let’s go sailing”

What Are You Willing to Throw Your Life Away On?
Ep. 13: A Few Ideas that Perhaps Help Explain the World

This is one of Andrew’s BEST pieces of thought and work… as he shares a few time-tested observations that help explain the “world.” This understanding can help a person immensely to have a “Better Experience of Life” or a “Better State of Mind!” These ideas help a person be “Well Armored for this World” and remain relatively cool and more eloquent as you watch people panic, argue, fight, worry, and rush around, trying to survive or prove their moral superiority!

Here are the main ideas:

  • We Live in a World of Infinite Color & Variety
  • There is No Center of the Universe, except You!
  • Scale of Consciousness – We are Surrounded by Higher and Lower Consciousness
  • Life is Experience through the MIND
    • There are Biochemical Explanations behind this Idea
    • The #1 Determinant of health comes from the Mind or our Default Thinking
    • A Smart Boy or Girl will Cultivate a More Positive View of the World!
  • Your Body and Life are largely Plastic
  • Life is Pulsation/Vibration - Life is Halves – A “Both-ness” Mind
  • The Foundational Energy of the Universe is that of Excitement & Entertainment.
  • Everyone and Thing is Trying to Do Its Best

As one goes about his or her day, one will perhaps find how these ideas apply! Where you go, “Of course!”

Chapter Markers

  • (00:00) Opening Reflection – Life and Loss as Teachers
  • (05:20) The Mind’s Power to Create Patterns
  • (10:45) How We Avoid the Mirror: Projection & Blame
  • (15:02) Accountability: The Lost Virtue
  • (20:18) Discomfort as Necessary Medicine
  • (25:49) The Tyranny of Sweetness and Ease
  • (29:47) Boredom and the Fear of Stillness
  • (34:01) Greatness is Always Birthed from Adversity
  • (36:45) Final Challenge: What Will You Do With Your Life?

What Are You Willing to Throw Your Life Away On?
Ep. 12: The 6 Categories of Value

In this HIGH-VALUE episode, Andrew walks us through a practical framework for evaluating the things we pursue in life—whether purchases, relationships, goals, or beliefs—using 6  fundamental categories of Value:

  1. Survival Value
  2. Utility Value
  3. Economic Value
  4. Entertainment Value
  5. Aesthetic Value
  6. Happiness Value

He explores the idea that “Value is largely a projection”  as well as  how we assign Value, why Value is subjective, and how understanding these 6 categories can improve the decision-making process. From the Crown Jewels to a can of beans, from gold investments to meatloaf memories, Reed illustrates with real-life examples how Value is more of a projection than inherent Reality. Whether you're reassessing your next big move or trying to understand what really matters, this episode offers a powerful lens to help answer the series’ central question:
“What are you willing to throw your life away on?”

What Are You Willing to Throw Your Life Away On?
Ep. 10: Dominance & Control (3 of 3)

In the third and final installment of this series, Andrew Reed covers the final 3 songs in this concept album, Dominance & Control, discussing "Minstrel Boy", "Sky Pilot", and concluding the journey with "Pulsar (Reprise)". He discusses Mortality, Masks, the Afterlife, and the evolving concept of the Self. We follow Cezar in the final steps of his Earthly, mortal life, along with his ultimate surrender to the “Great Certainty” - Death. Cezar then experiences the Afterworld, riding on a celestial Sky Train, captained by the Sky Pilot, as a passenger. He observes how small all things seem on Earth from this warm, safe and high-level perspective. As great and epic as his life had been, he still loses his identification with his past and contemplates his next iteration on the Earth plane. He is softened and more understanding of others now… and seeks to re-enter Life as a more evolved person…

What Are You Willing to Throw Your Life Away On?
Ep. 6: Going DEEP - What Are You Willing to Throw Your Life Away On?

In this profound solo episode, Andrew Reed takes us deep into the philosophical and personal roots of the question that gives this podcast its name. Sitting on the charred remains of his mountaintop recording studio — a space consumed by wildfire — Andrew speaks candidly about purpose, mortality, creativity, and risk. The central question, "What are you willing to throw your life away on?" is explored not as a metaphor, but as a real-life compass that demands clarity, courage, and soul-level commitment.

From brushes with death to the sacrifices required for mastery, Andrew shares humbly what it takes to live without regret — a life not thrown away meaninglessly, but offered fully to something worthy. It’s a powerful reflection for anyone facing loss, transition, or the urgency to live a more intentional life... And the path to success, which includes deep satisfaction that is often missing in worldly "achievement".

What Are You Willing to Throw Your Life Away On?
Ep. 4: Perhaps the Greatest Gift to Others...

This message was a spontaneous message that “emerged” on the morning before the Black Cove/Big Hungry Forest Fire which destroyed so much of the Awakened Forest. As a person in a family or having loved ones, one can feel responsible to behave and be a success for the sake of others. There is a feeling of “duty and obligation” to others. This message offers some genuine relief from this nagging feeling that befalls so many people who try to live responsibly.

In this deeply personal and reflective episode, Andrew Reed explores what might be the greatest gift we can give to those we love: living fully, honestly, and without regret. Andrew shares insights on energy, mood, mortality, and the pull toward a life that’s truly one’s own — even when it contradicts society’s expectations.

Touching on the nature of change, the illusion of control, and the wisdom of surrender, this episode challenges listeners to consider whether living an authentic, courageous life might itself be a legacy. Through personal stories, philosophical reflections, and grounded truth, Andrew offers not just ideas, but an invitation to live deliberately — and to pass on that spirit of possibility to others.

Ep. 3: How to Be Successful in this World

How can a person be successful in this world? Of course, success can have many definitions. But here Andrew puts forth a few straightforward steps that have proven HIGHLY useful in his journey. This is the plain-spoken advice that most of us and young people wish we would have received in our formative years…

Andrew explores how energy, focus, communication, and collaboration form the backbone of sustainable achievement. He draws from decades of experience and hard-won insight to lay out a practical framework: follow what gives you life, learn everything about it, learn to teach or sell that value to others, and align yourself with people of integrity. These four ideas — simple on the surface — can transform the trajectory of a person’s life.

Though worldly attainments are good, please realize that after a while… a surprisingly short while… they run thin… Then, as normal as it is, people seek the Inner World… and a DEEPER satisfaction of Life.

Chapter Markers

(00:00) – Intro

(01:04) – The Power of Ideas
How a vision for your life can replace addiction and directionlessness.

(02:22) – Redefining Success
Success is not about money or status — it’s about alignment and inner satisfaction.

(06:21) – Principle #2: Deep Focus
Commit to five years of intense learning to reach the top of your field.

(07:24) – Principle #3: Learn to Sell or Empower
You must be able to teach, sell, or communicate value to create impact.

(08:48) – Principle #4: Hitch Your Wagon to Winners
Surround yourself with intelligent, integris people who share your vision.

(10:45) – Culture of Ideas & Collective Intelligence
In a truly functional group, the best ideas always win.

(11:05) – A Simple Summary
The four principles recapped — and a closing challenge to apply them.
