The Purpose of Marriage is to Refine Your Character (Yiddish) Ep. #74
Marriage Is Where You Become Your Best Self In this episode, we explore how marriage is the deepest place of growth and refinement, based on the teachings of the Baal Shem Tov, the Tzetel Katan, and the writings of Rav Chaim Vital. A person is not brought into this world for comfort, convenience, or ego. He is brought to refine himself. And the greatest environment for that work is marriage. When a husband honors, supports, and prioritizes his wife, he elevates himself. When he puts her needs first, he becomes the person Hashem intended him to be. We also learn from the Midrash that Avraham Avinu’s test of "Lech Lecha" was to act purely for Hashem, without personal benefit. In marriage, the same applies. When you give without keeping score, your marriage becomes a place of blessing, love, and deep joy.
