If your brain feels like it has 47 tabs open, this episode is for you.
We’re talking about mental wellness, not productivity, not performance, just clear thinking. Hanna shares about the mental load of motherhood and her slow breakup with the scroll. Zach gets into why clarity is a gift to the people you love, not just something that makes you more efficient.
We talk about real habits that help: brain dumps, no-scroll mornings, Sabbath, silence, movement, phone-free time, and more. If you’re ready for a quieter mind and a more grounded life, this one’s for you.

Creating a peaceful, functional environment isn’t about becoming a hippy, minimalist, tree-hugging, eco-warrior freak (but hey, if that’s your thing, more power to you). It’s really about making your surroundings work for you, not against you. In today’s episode, we discuss environmental wellness and how simple changes in your surroundings can make a huge difference. Zach talks about his love of organization, Hanna shares tips on keeping the home functional with five kids, and we discuss ways to make your environment life-giving.

Q: What is most important for us right now? A: Survival and balance. As parents with 3 kiddos, its A LOT with both of us working from home, homeschooling, making healthy meals, cleaning the house, trying to be intentional, and not dying/going insane. Here's some tips for how we're handling these strange times.

Support the showOver the year, we have had various goals for different areas of life, and pretty much all of our achievement goals, we either reframed, rewrote, or rejected. We talk about how the goals that had the most impact and affected the most change were small little habits that were fruitful and multiplied via compound interest. It's funny when they say shoot for the moon, and you might land among the stars because that's setting yourself up for failure. If the goal is to hit the target, make a habit of practicing every day. I wish we never wrote achievement goals, what a colossal waste of time compared to habits.

We had a miscarriage, celebrated our 5th anniversary, then what happened? We stopped doing the podcast. To be honest, it was like a hurricane of a couple of months, here we are at the end of the year, 23 days until Christmas. We decided it's probably time for us to write down our vision for the life we desire and build purposeful habits around that. We think that the best way for us to do that is to write a rule of life. So, we talk a little bit about what a rule of life is and why we want to write one.

For our five year anniversary, we went to Kauai, without kids. It was such a beautiful place, and we had such a nice time. But it was weird and it took some time to actually just stop and relax. We were removed from our normal life and we weren’t distracted by business and work and all the things that go on.
We used to travel a lot, but not so much anymore. In this episode, we talk about the difference between experiencing a new thing and documenting them and how our mindset has shifted. We want to remember things how they were and not a staged or perfected version of our memories.
