The Video Age: Episode 015 Phantom of the Paradise
This week we've got the only musical directed Brian De Palma with music by Paul Williams, it's Phantom of the Paradise. This is our second entry in our Mayusical series and it's a great flick, De Palma is the great American Giallo director. The musical is a send up of Faust and Dorian Gray and features great performances from a stellar cast, with music composed by Paul Williams before any "Rainbow Connections" ever happened.   Join Our Patreon: www.thevideoage.com

The Video Age: Episode 014 The Music Man (1962)
This week we're kicking off our Mayusicals themed month with The Music Man, 1962, with Robert Preston. This movie is about a fast talking con-man who is selling bands, to mid-western rural towns, and it's a musical. How could it be bad? It couldn't, because it's great. Watch it, or don't just listen to the episode. This is one of my favorites so join the fun.   Join our Patreon: www.thevideoage.com

The Video Age
The Video Age: Episode 012 Dune(1984)
This week the sleeper must awaken, this is the fourth episode in our April Showers Give Me Dreams For Hours series. The movie we have is Dune, 1984, directed by David Lynch and we have a guest to talk about it with, my brother Josh. We unfortunately lost David Lynch this year, and covering his lowest rated movie of all time might seem disrespectful, but I assure you it isn't. This is not one of his best films, but it is the first one I saw. I find it beautiful for it's efforts to capture one of my favorite sweeping sci-fi epics in an ambitious constricted two hour format. The artist's vision being corrupted and compressed by the studio until it ultimately ends up falling short of what he wanted and what anyone really wanted. This film nearly broke him, but through this crucible he was able to bring us things like Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, and eventually Twin Peaks: The Return. Enjoy this movie, and do not fear not liking it because... I must not fear.Fear is the mind-killer.Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.I will face my fear.I will permit it to pass over me and through me.And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.   Get early access to upcoming episodes and extra episodes by joining our Patreon: www.thevideoage.com

The Video Age: Episode 011 Ladyhawke
This week we have a movie that I love and seems somewhat forgotten, Ladyhawke, 1985 directed by Richard Donner. This is a beautiful love story that is also a fantasy adventure, with Ferris Bueller, I was bound to love it. This is our third episode of the April Showers Bring Me Dreams For Hours series, and next week we've got Dune, 1984. Get early access to the next episode on our Patreon...   www.thevideoage.com

The Video Age: Episode 010 The Big Lebowski
The second title in our April Showers Bring Me Dreams For Hours series is every dad's favorite neo-noir stoner comedy from the late 90s, The Big Lebowski. Directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, this movie covers all the angles of a classic detective movie while being hilarious and unexpected. So do a J and relax while I unwind this movie for you.   Join our Patreon: www.thevideoage.com

The Video Age
The Video Age: Episode 009 Brazil 1985
Welcome to April, and our series, April Showers Bring Me Dreams For Hours. This is our series of dreamy strange wonderful movies, and our first one is Brazil, 1985, directed by Terry Gilliam. This black comedy about a dystopian future where people are stolen from their homes to be questioned by faceless government entities who aren't directly responsible for anything in their incompetent totalitarian bureaucracy. Something that seemed distinctly far off from any future we would see... anyway, there are some great visuals in this movie and it is a blast to watch and I love it. I just want to say that this dreamy, dreary, beautiful movie is something to really behold, so find it and watch it. Then prepare for next weeks episode, The Big Lebowski. Several movies were watched and briefly talked about in an informative type of fashion. This is from 2024 so they are not as new as they were when this was recorded. Oh well, this is a little format of episode we'll be doing in the future. Several movies, broken down, trailers played and opinions given, also remember to rewind it when done. The Video Age: Episode 000 The First One
Much like a comic-book this is a our episode/issue zero, which will explain nearly everything about the show. We will explore a sample movie Robot Jox, 1989, and establish bits and segments that are great, and will last forever... or were dropped when I started recording again. Storylines in the zero issue of a comic often don't make it to the full run of the comic. Such is the fate of some bits. Enjoy episode zero which includes stuff just for people who listen to it, it also includes a lie about an upcoming episode which is a Patreon exclusive, The Hobbit(1977) which was recorded and moved to the Patreon because things changed, join at www.thevideoage.com
