Episode 33 - The Sloth Investor Book Release!

In episode 33 of the Sloth Investor Podcast, I discuss the release of my personal finance book 'The Sloth Investor' with my podcast partner Jay.

The episode was recorded on June 28th, the publication date of my book.

Written with the goal of 'Simplifying Investing For All', the book provides an evidence-based framework for those looking to increase their wealth in a simple, yet powerful manner. The Sloth Investor
Important Announcement
The key reason for this announcement is to inform you that the podcast will now be transitioning to Youtube. The chief reason for transitioning to Youtube is that the video format will enable me to provide a broader, more accessible range of content for all of my fellow Sloth Investors. Therefore, in addition to the Sloth Investor podcast, my Youtube channel will eventually provide a range of other investment content. Though relatively small at the moment, the goal in 2023 will be to grow the Sloth Investor YouTube channel so that as many people as possible can access information concerning how to invest like a sloth. Again, for the sake of clarity, the Sloth Investor Podcast will no longer appear on Spotify, Apple podcasts, and all other online podcast streaming platforms that it has appeared on thus far. The transition to Youtube means that the format of the podcast will now be changing from audio to video. In fact, by accessing my Youtube channel you will be able to see two recent interviews that my co-host Jay and I have held.  My two most recent guests were: 1.) Eric Balchunas - Author of the fantastic book 'The Bogle Effect' 2.) Nikki Dunn - Founder of the 'She Talks Finance' investment community In the next episode of the podcast, Jay and I will be interviewing Andrew Hallam, author of books such as 'Millionaire Teacher', 'Millionaire Expat' and 'Balance'. Please listen to the audio of this announcement for more information concerning these guests. As you know, I am a passionate advocate for investment literacy and by subscribing to the Sloth Investor channel you can play a significant part in enabling the channel to grow, thereby empowering other investors around the globe to make smarter, evidence-based, sloth-like decisions for their investment portfolios. INTERMISSION

The purpose of this brief audio clip is to inform you that Jay and I will be taking a break from the podcast for the summer as we will be travelling home to see family and friends in our home countries.

Due to the strict Covid related restrictions that have been in place here in Hong Kong within the last few years, it’s the first opportunity that we’ve both had in a considerable amount of time to see our family and friends back home.

Episode 22 - The Sloth Investor Dictionary (E-I)
Okay listeners, by now you know that Mr. Sloth possesses a certain vocabulary when it comes to investing. These words play a key role in the way that I think about the realm of investment.  In the second edition of this particular mini-series, we continue to dive into Mr. Sloth's investing dictionary by exploring the letters E-I. Intermittently, we'll touch upon the remaining letters that comprise my investing dictionary in future episodes.  For now, though, my co-host Jay and I hope you enjoy our second foray into the Sloth Investors investing lexicon. Episode 20 - The Sloth Investor Hall of Fame: Morgan Housel

Regular listeners of the Sloth Investor podcast will know that Mr. Sloth's investment philosophy is a compound creation of everything that he's read, listened to, viewed, discussed, and experienced about investing.

In particular, though, there are several key individuals that have played a pivotal role in the formation of my 5 bedrock principles. For example, Warren Buffett and the late Jack Bogle, Mr. Sloth's first two inductees into the Sloth Investor Hall of Fame, are indicative of the calibre of individuals deemed worthy of merit in this hallowed institution.

The third inductee, though much younger, is also worthy of inclusion. This inductee is Morgan Housel.

The reason?

Well, quite simply, the quality and incisiveness of Housel's writing place him on the Mount Rushmore of contemporary investment writers. Perhaps best known as the author of 'The Psychology of Money' (in podcast 16 we focused upon this book) Housel's writing is razor-sharp, easily accessible, and multi-disciplinary in nature.

During this episode, we'll explore a selection of Housel's writing during his time at the Motley Fool, and, more recently, at the Collaborative Fund.

As promised during our discussion, here's a link to all of Housel's writing during his time at the Motley Fool. https://www.fool.com/author/1611/

Intermittently, in future episodes, we'll touch upon the remaining letters that comprise Mr. Sloth's investing dictionary. For now, though, we hope you enjoy our first foray into the Sloth Investor's investing lexicon.

Episode 15 - The Sloth Investor Hall of Fame: Warren Buffett

Regular listeners of the Sloth Investor podcast will know that Mr. Sloth's investing philosophy is a compound creation of everything that he's read, listened to, discussed, and experienced about investing.

In particular, though, there are several key individuals that have played a pivotal role in the formation of my 5 bedrock principles.

One of them is Warren Buffett, a profound influence on the Sloth Investor. Indeed, a line in Buffett's 1990 letter to shareholders provided the inspiration for Mr. Sloth's name.

Tasked with sculpting the equivalent of my own investing Mount Rushmore, a monument to honor significant giants of the investing world, a key pick would undoubtedly be Warren Buffett.

Therefore, it's an honor for me to select Buffett as the second inductee into the Sloth Investor hall of fame.
