Medicaid Waiver Options for Special Needs Children

Hey friends! Today, I’m breaking down the truth about government assistance for special needs kids — especially in Texas, where it’s not as simple as people think. Just because you have special needs children doesn’t mean you qualify for Medicaid or other support. My husband and I know this firsthand with our two boys, Logan (on the autism spectrum) and Luke (with complex medical needs).

This episode covers what navigating these financial and medical hurdles is really like, sharing the reality of our costs, the endless applications, and tips for finding real support. If you’re a special needs parent, I’ve done some legwork for you — from where to apply to how to get on waiver lists that can help, even if they have long wait times.

Whether you’re in this journey or want to understand it better, remember: God’s with us every step. So let’s face this together! Don’t forget to hit subscribe, take a deep breath, and let’s do this. Blessings, y’all!

MY FULL TESTIMONY!

Hey friends, this one’s real and raw. Joanna and I dove into some heavy stuff — sharing my journey, my struggles, and how God has been walking me through it all. I talked about growing up in a Christian home, rebelling, and how depression and partying took over for a while. I hit rock bottom, but God met me there in the mess and gave me a second chance at life.

Joanna helped me walk through what it’s like raising our boys, Logan and Luke. Logan’s autistic and constantly overcoming, and Luke, well... Luke’s got a long list of medical challenges, including daily seizures. It hasn’t been easy — from managing diagnoses to facing moments where we’ve had to revive Luke — but God has been faithful. There are days I feel overwhelmed, but I know the Lord is holding us through every storm.

Anxiety has been part of this journey, but God keeps reminding me: “Let go, Kayleen, I’ve got this.” Even though life with Luke can be unpredictable, I know my God is good. Whether the miracles happen tomorrow or in heaven, I choose to trust Him.

So yeah, it’s messy, but it’s beautiful too. God’s used these challenges to deepen my faith and grow me in ways I never imagined. I’m learning to embrace the little wins — a smile from Luke, Logan saying new words — and trust that God’s hand is over it all.

Thank you for listening, for holding space for my story. And remember, it’s okay not to have it all together. We serve a good, faithful Father who meets us exactly where we are.

Anxiety | As a Christian Special Needs Medical Parent

In this episode, I’m getting real about something many of us struggle with—our emotions. As Christians, we sometimes feel like we should always be strong, joyful, and full of faith. But what happens when we feel fear, sadness, or anger? Today, I’m talking about how avoiding these emotions leads to anxiety and how the Holy Spirit used a scene from Inside Out 2 to remind me that it’s okay to not have everything under control. We’ll discuss how to acknowledge our feelings instead of shoving them down and why letting go and trusting God is key to finding peace. Let’s talk about anxiety, emotions, and how we can learn to process what we’re feeling without guilt or shame. Join me for a raw conversation about letting God take control in the midst of life’s chaos.

I almost got into a fight on a cruise 😳

Hey y’all! In this episode, I’m getting real and sharing a moment I’m not proud of. We were on a family trip, and I almost let my frustration get the best of me when someone told me to “control my kid” after a rough dinner with Luke and Logan. My response was… not Christ-like, and I had to take a step back and let the Holy Spirit speak to me. I’ll talk about how I had to humble myself, apologize, and choose grace over anger—even when it was hard. This is a reminder that none of us are perfect, and we’re all still growing. Let’s talk about how we can choose to be a light, even when the world tests us, and why it’s okay to mess up as long as we learn from it. God’s still working on me, and I know He’s working on you too. 💛

Join me for some real talk about stress, grace, and how we can all show a little more love, even on our toughest days.
