This poem dramatizes the confusion felt by the narrator as he watches the important things in life slip away. Realizing he cannot hold on to even one grain of sand, he is led to his final question whether all things are just a dream.

Robert Lee Frost (March 26, 1874 – January 29, 1963) was an American Poet. Frost was honored frequently during his lifetime and is the only poet to receive four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry. In this poem, the narrator depicts a scenario where he has a tempation to stay longer to enjoy the beauty of the woods in the snow. But he realizes that he has miles to go before he sleeps.
