Hey all! And welcome to another episode of The Neurodivergent Polyamorist Podcast! Now, some of you may recall (from our social media posts and prior episode mentions) that this weekend was supposed to mark our appearance at the Midnight at Dawn Kink Convention in Sudbury, Ontario. Unfortunately, the event was cancelled. But Becca and I decided - hey now, why let that stop us? So we wrangled in friend of the podcast and fellow con exhibitor Laura from Alex Deviant Creations and decided to try to simulate the kind of shit-shooting conversations we would have likely had as booth neighbours at the actual convention. What followed was a robust chat where we discussed everything from the importance of community building, to when to give grace when people mess up on our queer identities, vs when to tell them where to go. (Spoiler: it comes down to whether or not they're genuinely trying in good faith and if they're open to learning better/doing better, though of course your mileage may vary).

It's no secret that Becca and I are MASSIVE nerds, and the X-Men in particular have always been near and dear to both of our hearts. With the recent release (and conclusion) of season 1 of X-Men '97 on Disney+, we felt the time was right to do a deep dive into why we love these characters, how they resonate with both of us, and how the X-Men have always been a powerful allegory for those of us who are different.

She also teaches english as a second language by day, and works with her partner Alex to sell custom made paddles, dickasauruses, and other awesome creations by night. Today, we asked her to share with us her experiences as a kinkster, polyamorous person, and neurospicy human, and the ways that those identities have interacted in her life. We had an amazing discussion, and are really excited to share it with you!

Maybe its the journey. And if that journey takes a little bit longer so that we do something we all believe in, then I can't think of any people I'd rather be with."

Please note - we aren't talking about toxic relationships when we address these things; we know and understand quite well that in those kinds of situations, things are far more complicated. We are instead focusing on the media and popular culture obsession with romantic partners just casually bashing each other, and how such things CAN actually lead to toxicity and abuse.

Hey all! We're super sorry for the impromptu one month hiatus, but both of us ended up being hit with quite a bit of life stuff at the same time, and as a result we're each feeling a little burned out. Now that we're through the worst of it though, we figured it would be a great opportunity to revisit the topic of burnout. Specifically, we wanted to put out an episode that talks all about the nerdy things we love and turn to when we're feeling the spoon drain, hyperfixate on them a little, and info dump about them in the process. It's a rather aimless episode, but one that we had a ton of fun doing and we hope you enjoy listening to it too!
