The colourful coded complexion of a summer day are coinciding the chaos of an internal indigo confession of a panicky new life. I’m 16 years old. I blink my eyes and I’m in a new country, I have new friends, and I am a different person. I’ve changed, they’ve changed, we’ve changed. A podcast investigating the Kenyan life abroad in laughs and a marvellous mix of people, prospects, and places. You don’t have to be Kenyan, young, old, travelled, male, female, straight. Just grab a cup of coffee and sit down with me. Hear - lies the story of a Kenyan traveler.

An accent; the way you sound when you speak.

Sometimes the way you speak sounds like everyone around you and sometimes it is the only one of it's kind in a bed of rosses. Even though, an accent can determine your quality of life in some places and in others, it brings you closer to the people just like you.

From accent kinks to prejudices, this episode is all about accents!

Domestic vs International Friendships

In this episode this is the definition of the following terms:

  • A domestic relationship refers to one at which two people live in the same country. For instance, one person lives in Nairobi and the other person lives in Nakuru.
  • An international relationship refers to one at which two people are in two different countries. For instance, one person lives in Canada and the other person lives in Tanzania.

Silent Arguments

An argument of silence is defined as the drawing of a conclusion based on the silence of another person when the other person is refusing to give evidence for any reason as to their unstated evidence [https://www.logicallyfallacious.com/logicalfallacies/Argument-from-Silence]

I.e. a silent argument is when a person refuses to state their problem and the other person - based on their human receptiveness - must decide to draw a conclusion on the other persons actions and emotions EVEN THOUGH the other person never stated the problem????

Am I the only one confused?? Yes....but have I used this tactic before? Y E S, You know I have!

Today i'll speak about my opinions and outlook on silent arguments (also known as "the silent treatment").

Insecure People

We all know that one friend who never let's you get better. Like these type of people DON'T rest; there's always something you've done wrong, said wrong, worn wrong, and at this point your whole existence has been wrong in their eyes.

Laughing, right? it's funny but for real... always handing you that 8th glass of alcohol even though you said you were giving up drinking OR should we speak about the sly person who REGARDLESS of the situation makes backhanded and offside comments and you only realise when you get home they were talking about you?!?!

Oh yes, that's the exact person we are speaking about today - the person who brings the so-called "spice" and "flavour" into your life until you realise that they are just really insecure (how times change...sigh)

The Life of a Kenyan Who is Never in Kenya
They Should've Known Better

Tell me you haven't pulled out this line before...

"They should've known better than to do that to me" "They should've known better than to say such a thing"

"They should've known better than to break my trust"

Sounds familiar?

We have this tendency to believe that people have this ordained way of acting that aligns in exact replication of everything we want, and is SUPPOSEDLY utter perfection in a world we know is imperfect.

Look, I get it. Everyone wishes that they could have their flawless Cinderella story where Prince Charming for some heavenly reason knows everything you want when you want it... Truth is life isn't a fairytale and to what extent can we "know better" when we are creatures of habit and learn through mistakes... Guess that's the stuff they never taught you in Life Orientation.

On this weeks episode, I will speak about the phrase "they should have known better" and it's applicability in our modern world.

I hope you enjoy!

Having Loads of Friends

What's the honest truth about having loads of friends? it's not as glamours as it sets itself out to be. Now don't get me wrong, each person you get to interact with is unique and authentic, but have you ever asked yourself how it is when every single person is unique and authentic, when you have to cater to over 1000 unique and authentic people? Pretty intense if you ask me...

I mean ask yourself this: quality over quantity Okay...quantity is fun to go out with, spices up your life.... but quality is irreplaceable, authentic, loving and always there for you. Quantity is like the distanced cousin whereas quality is your immediate family. You get what i'm saying?

This week I am going to discuss the realities about being blessed enough to have a wide scale of friends. The downsides, factual truths and more.

I hope you enjoy!
