This conversation with Roua was “Mad and Radical” just like how she described herself. It was about us two Sudanese women critically and madly addressing what we went through in our community.
I wish I can have more conversations like this with every Sudani woman and with Roua specifically a soul mate that I found recently. Thank you Roua 🥰

I recorded this episode a year ago with @sun.yi, publishing it was another milestone I needed to cross because 1. I wanted to be perfect in editing to publish it so I impress my mentor 2. Selfishly, I wanted to keep it to myself, I was in disbelief that Sun Yi actually agreed to be a guest after one month of knowing him 🥹
Then I had an aha moment, Sun will always be impressed by showing up messy and showing your work while you’re improving it. Also, the world need to see @sun.yi love for @_gigizhang_ and how their relationship strengthens their personalities and life quality.
Sun I appreciate you for teaching us storytelling along with all the hidden gems at Night Owl Nation, thank you for showing us your authentic self

Modathir is your regular sudanese man, grew up surrounded by love and support. He did well in school got into the university and graduated to get a successful job. And like millions of other sudanese youths, he went out on the streets in 2019 and participated in the sit-in to overthrow Omer Al Bashir who ruled us for 30 years. A regular story, Right? At least for us sudani folks.
This past year, Modathir found himself pulled by duty again to start sharing and talking about thr current genocide in Sudan, he started in hopes bigger platforms would notice and share. However, he ended carrying the burden of reporting Sudan news to the public and to us Sudani folks.
In this episode we dive into Modathir childhood and youth years in Sudan. This episode is full of nostalgia and longing for Sudan as well as harsh realities, watch with care and love. Support Modathir by following him and sharing his hard work.
Support Sudan by donating and by educating yourself about the obvious truth of the current events that is ruining millions of Sudanese lives.

What Sudanese people thought is just another clash between SAF and RSF turned into 365 days of War. Genocide, rape and displacement, millions of Sudanese, lost their homes and assets to a war that is being neglected and addressed as a civil war to dehumanize another african nation.
In this episode of “The Lemon Narrative with Sabreen” I talk with Ala Kheir a Sudsnese photographer and Filmmaker who witnessed it all. Ala travelled through Sudan in April 2023, his camera is carrying untold stories of a heartbreaking tragedy. I listened to Ala telling the stories of our people, we both held our tears, our hearts were heavy filled with void as our grief is far less than the horror sudanese people are experiencing everyday while the world refuses to acknowledge them.
—————————————————
Ala Kheir is a Sudanese photographer curator, educator, and filmmaker based in UAE. Through photography, Kheir actively creates personal perspectives and narratives about his immediate space. His work has been showcased in various spaces in Africa and around the world. A major theme in Ala Kheir’s work is to explore Khartoum, the city where he grew up. His image making employs a subtle approach to address the complexity of the city, as well as the social/economic issues that are shaping the country now as it goes through changes and political shifts.
