The Jeff and Sam Show
72 – The Red Lady of the Sea and The Bonebreaker of Baraboo
Sam tells the extraordinary and badass redemption tale of Jeanne de Clisson, a woman betrayed and banished by her country who transformed her grief and fury into vengeance on the high seas. Once a noblewoman, Jeanne became a feared pirate known as The Lioness of Brittany — commanding her infamous Black Fleet to exact justice for her husband's unjust and humiliating death. Jeff then shares the harrowing survival story of Thad Phillips, the teenage boy who narrowly escaped the sadistic "Bonebreaker of Baraboo." It's a chilling but inspiring account of human endurance, courage, and the will to survive in the face of unimaginable cruelty. 71 - Okiku's Well: The Story That Inspired The Ring
Jeff shares the chilling legend of Okiku's Well — one of the most well-known horror stories in Japanese history and the inspiration behind the movie The Ring. Sam then tells a tragic true crime story from Chicago — a Halloween night murder that began when a man thought someone stole his candy. Jeff wraps things up with another campfire story, and the duo discusses the "rules" of horror movies and what makes them so timelessly terrifying. 70 – Corpsewood Manor
Jeff tells the story of the murders at Corpsewood Manor in Chattooga County, Georgia. It's the nearly unbelievable tale of two gay men who moved to rural Georgia in the late 1970s to live a quiet, solitary life. But their dream of peace and isolation tragically backfires. Dr. Scudder and Joey Odom become the victims of their own haunting story — one steeped in murder, satanic symbols, government LSD, societal judgment, fear of the "other," failed escapism, and the destructive consequences of greed and misunderstanding. 67 – The Kurim Case
It's spooky season so it's getting dark. This week Sam recounts the harrowing story of the Kurim case, a horrific child abuse scandal that emerged in the Czech Republic in 2007. This gripping story unveiled a clandestine cult shrouded in manipulation and cruelty, as well as the shocking revelation of a 33-year-old woman who was ...hiding a secret. The case first came to light in May 2007 when a man in Kurim inadvertently intercepted his neighbor's baby monitor signal. What he witnessed was nothing short of horrifying: unsettling images of a naked and bound young boy named Ondrej, imprisoned in a cupboard. 64 – Dean Corll, John Wayne Gacy & 10-Cent Beer Night
Dean Corll was an American serial killer who operated in Texas during the early 1970s. Often referred to as the "Candy Man" due to his family's candy factory, Corll, along with two accomplices, was responsible for the abduction, torture, and murder of at least 28 young boys. Sam also touches on the story of John Wayne Gacy. Jeff tells the legendary story of Cleveland's 1974 Ten Cent Beer Night. What could go wrong ... did. As the game progressed, the crowd became increasingly unruly, with many fans visibly intoxicated. Tensions escalated when a fight broke out on the field. The situation deteriorated quickly, leading to fans storming the field and engaging in violent behavior, including throwing objects and brawling both with each other and with the players.
