Marcia Naomi Berger is a licensed clinical social worker in San Rafael, California. She is a therapist for individuals and couples in her private practice. She was a lecturer on the clinical faculty at the University of California School of Medicine and executive director of a family service agency. Because some people shamed and harassed her after her bipolar illness surfaced, she kept it a secret for a long time while advancing in her career. As an afro-taina-boricua- lipan apache- chicana- americana woman of complexity, she is dedicated to the continued decolonization of both her healing practice and own bodymind. She is passionate about working with people who are struggling with trauma resulting from grief and loss, sexual assault and violence or discrimination based on sex, gender expression and racism. She is holding special space in her practice specifically for interracial and inter-cultural couples who need support Claiming Each Other across divides rooted in historical, political, systemic or ancestral trauma. She loves to dance, grow and make food and medicine, write, connect with her circle of intimates and spend plenty of quiet contemplative time with spirit and Earth.
