Fr Rob Galea: the singing priest

Fr Rob Galea is a Catholic priest, singer-songwriter, film-maker and author. I was super lucky to be joined by Fr Rob and my friend Ashley as a co-host to talk about Fr Rob's story.

In this episode: Fr Rob grew up in Malta, a party island, and developed depression and anxiety as a teen. After hitting rock bottom, he joined a Christian youth group and later - the priesthood. We talk about prayer, misconceptions of the Catholic church and what Fr Rob's "elevator pitch" about Catholicism is.

Dan Stubbs: the fight for rights of people with disabilities

Dan Stubbs has fought for the rights of vulnerable communities for his whole career. After developing a vision impairment as a teen, he went from tradie training to an economics degree. He's gone on to be a lawyer, CEO and now - Commissioner for Disability Workers.

In this episode: Dan tells us about his career, which began with being unemployed straight out of uni. He now focuses on championing the rights of people with disabilities and suggests how we all can be part of it. We talk about ableism and how the world is not designed for all abilities.

Daizy Maan: entrepreneurship as a tool for change

Daizy has always wanted to make a positive impact on the world. But it wasn't until she volunteered with refugees in Thailand that she realised the power of entrepreneurship. After completing half of a law degree, she realised the power that entrepreneurial skills has in empowering people - especially those who are disadvantaged.

**In this episode: **Daizy talks about growing up in Griffith NSW and the racism that she faced growing up. She tells us about how her independent nature led her to travel to India as a teenager, volunteer in Thailand and Tanzania and found her own university club. She now works with SPARK Deakin and Bold Punjab to cultivate entrepreneurial and leadership skills in young people and South Asian women.

Sam Kane tells us everything you need to know to fall in love with swimming pools again. Sam has been campaigning since he was 14 years old to keep his local pool open. Even today, he continues to make his pool the centre of his community with float races, Zumba classes and many volunteers.

SEGMENT 1: Sam and Kelly talk about their Oh Yes and Oh No moment of the week. Sam's Oh Yes moment had him celebrating National Volunteers Day by giving out awards! Kelly's Oh No moment involved her stealing someone's car park (by accident!)

Geomar Landicho: rebellion to chasing dreams

Helloooo Monday ☀️ Geomar's story is about teenage rebellion, family love and chasing your dreams despite not getting your dream ATAR 👏🏼

In this episode: Geomar grew up in the 'ghetto' of Melbourne and tells us his childhood ragtag group of friends. He talks about balancing a love of school with a desire to rebel with friends. Then, despite not getting the ATAR for law school, he joined the corporate world and now works for The Pyjama Foundation to help children in out-of-home care. We talk lastly about coming out at 15 to his Filipino parents, bringing his boyfriend home at 17 and now spoiler alert popping the question!
