Here's a very special Road Trip I did for the BBC Radio 3 Music Planet: a brief history of Candombe in Montevideo, Uruguay, featuring music from a wide range of musicians and a couple moments with two legends: Rubén Rada & Lobo Núñez.
Here's my latest Road Trip for the BBC's Music Planet. One of the most meaningful times I've ever had in my life as a music aficionado, chronicler and story-teller was to experience the Festival Nacional de la Mejorana, in Guararé, Panamá. Of all the festivals I've been lucky to attend, in the past 20+ years, this one is close to the top.
Here's my latest Road Trip, this time from Cartagena, Colombia and the music genre called Champeta, featuring tunes from La Soukoursal, Louis Towers, Charles King, Anne Swing and Bazurto All Stars.
Here's my Road Trip, along the ancient Camino de Santiago with music from Os Montes de Lugo, Carlos Núñez, Uxía, Xosé Lois & Aliboria, Cristina Pato, and the late and great singer-songwriter Fran Pérez.
For the past six months, I've been doing a series of special Road Trips for the BBC's program 'Music Planet'. Here's the second, all about the music of Paraguay!
Just a few days before the release of her new album "El Mal Querer", I had the opportunity to interview Rosalía in Madrid. The location: a lavish salon in a XVI century palace on Calle Huertas, in the historic district. In this rare conversation in English, Rosalía talks about the influence of flamenco giant Camarón de la Isla; the making of her new album; and the many years of hard work she's put in, to achieve her dreams.
