Life can change in an instant. An accident, a diagnosis, foot fungus… it could be anything. But Today on The Christian Marriage Podcast, I talk to a couple who have been married for 33.5 years, and he has been quadapolegic for 37 years. If you have a spouse with a chronic medical condition, this episode is for you.
Faith is a confusing topic. As Christians we are supposed to base our lives on truths that feel very opposed to our circumstances. I've talked with so many coaching clients who struggle to see how faith should or even could impact their "real lives" (hint: part of the solution to this problem is seeing that the truths of Christianity are more real than your actual circumstances). Furthermore, what could faith in these truths possibly have to do with your marriage?
On this episode of The Christian Marriage Podcast, I talk with a couple who went through 7 months of unemployment. Through it they learned how to believe an important Christian truth: God has a plan. Come along with us as we talk about what it means to live out your faith, even when circumstances are hard.
Question: what truth do you need to believe as you are going through hard circumstances? Leave me a comment naming this truth, and lets all pray that we would have the faith to believe and live these truths.
It’s said that ministry is a dangerous calling. And that is true enough when it comes to your marriage. The pressures of ministry have been known to pit wife against husband against God. If we allow it, ministry can tear a marriage and a family apart. How can you support and protect your marriage while in ministry? Today I talk to a couple who have been in ministry for more than 2 decades, and if you watch the video on youtube, you will be able to see how attentive and in love they are just by how they are looking at each other. They are doing something right and I hope you will be able to learn from them.
In this episode, Jeananne and Austin tell their story about their kids’ lives who didn’t get a chance to live. Their journey through pregnancy loss left them wounded and broken, but ultimately, in God’s grace, drew them closer together. Closeness is not always a result of losses like this. Pregnancy loss often drives a wedge between couples, and, indeed, Jeananne and Austin had to navigate some difficult realities and wounds through the process. How they navigated grief together can help you if you are trying to navigate grief together.
What principle for navigating grief together do you need to take action on today?:
Connect with your spouse’s grief
DO NOT try to make your spouse feel better
Force yourself not to isolate, but lean into Christian community
Drink more wine

A child with a mental illness or special needs is one of the most heartbreaking realities in parenting. It also puts huge strain on the family and on the marriage. For example, some studies find that the divorce rate among couples who have a child with Autism might be as high as 80% (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/a-better-divorce/202302/divorce-and-special-needs-children).
Today on The Christian Marriage Podcast, I talk to a Phil and Linda who walked this tough road and found a way to cling to Jesus and to each other.
