(Interview starts at 12:00!) Ohhh yes, folks... this one is the Big Mac: Best-selling and critically-acclaimed sci-fi and fantasy author Arian Tchaikovsky is in fact here on the BizzleCast! An amazing way to launch the podcast side of our 2022 here at BizzleCast 2.0 (more on that later), I was and remain so honored to be able to talk with Adrian for so long and in such depth. Did I mention long? Well, Adrian stayed on for over two hours (!) to talk about not only his own works but a bunch of shared nerdy interests including Dune, Warhammer, D&D and more. This one had to be a miniseries, and while I’ll be releasing the full 2+ hour podcast as a single file as well, for the official Part 1 of my discussion with Adrian, we are jumping right into his own leap into science fiction for the first time after many years as a fantasy writer. That first book was, of course, CHILDREN OF TIME which catapulted him into new strata of fame, recognition, and exposure. LONG: It’s crazy to think this classic Bizzle rant ft. the great Simi Climo was waaay back in **AUGUST of 2019** when we first thought Hailee Steinfeld was *CONFIRMED* to be Kate Bishop. While we were forced to suffer for almost a year and a half before getting our first photos of Hailee filming with Jeremy Renner aka Hawkeye in NYC (and she does indeed look SPECTACULAR in the Purple & Black!!!) we finally got her where she belongs — as a major Avenger for the near future and, in this Bizzle’s opinion, the future leader of the Avengers taking over from Captain America (more on that in an upcoming podcast with Jason Ritter about Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda aka the Scarlett Witch). But this podcast is mainly a rant about DC Comics and WB about losing out on Haiz big-time as Batgirl (or literally anything), missing out once again on a major young talent who was unsigned to a massive property at the time — and losing to Marvel Studios AGAIN. He wears authentic (and hilarious) helmets from historical wars while he streams and loves engaging in history talk with his growing followers even while he’s (virtually) conquering Europe in WW2 in HEARTS OF IRON 4 or the whole world in EUROPA UNIVERSALIS 4. One of the most underrated films of the past five years is perhaps the greatest dramatic performance of Ben Affleck as well. THE ACCOUNTANT did reasonably well in the box office, but never got green lit for a sequel despite excellent performances as well by Anna Kendrick and Jon Bernthal — both favorites of the Bizzle and Papa B and both with fantastic chemistry with Affleck. It may be about an accountant who is also a sniper but it’s really about mental illness and the effect it has on human relationships. The action, while thrilling and very realistic, is saved for just a few key scenes and perhaps was the reason for its modest box office was Average American wanted more violence. But from our perspective, this is an A+ minimalist perfection film that draws from a number of genres including noir, modern Western, and of course superhero tropes but is far, far more mature, intellectual, and profound than most genre fair.
