Camille joins me to talk about how she learned to start a vegetable garden in her backyard. It all started with a book, The Year Round Vegetable Gardener by Niki Jabbour, that ignited Camille's passion for gardening. She says that you can be pretty good from the start; it just takes a bit of planning: Finding a sunny spot and getting the right soil are key when starting out. Also, it is important to choose the right crops. There are cool season crops (for Spring and Fall) and warm season crops (for summer). Another tip that Camille shares is using mulch, which enables her to water less often than otherwise. Camille also discusses sowing techniques, thinning, pest and weed control, harvesting, crop rotation, and other tricks she learned along the way!
