There was nothing else I could add in commenting on this episode, so I let Arnold and Irene run the show without me. Check out the transcript at www.talkingscifai.com.

I didn’t have much to say in the prior episode, which is why I let Arnold and Irene run the show. I don’t have much to say this week either. These episodes have been coming out needing very little extra work. The only thing worth mentioning is how focused this version of ChatGPT is in comparison to the earlier version. Not only does it stay on topic while producing the script, but it remembers what the next episode is supposed to be. I can’t wait to see what the next versions have in store.
And now, here’s episode 9 - AI in Video Games and Interactive Storytelling.

After the success of the first episode, I found I had to do very little to get another episode I could be happy with. Check out the transcript at www.talkingscifai.com.

As evidenced by my last podcast, my time with ChatGPT 3.0 was nearing the end of usefulness, so I decided it was time to move on. I upgraded to ChatGPT Plus and began anew with version 3.5. Right off the bat, it was an impressive beginning. I began with the same prompt I gave 3.0. "Hello, we’re going to create a podcast called Talking ScifAI." This version came back with topics, episode structure, and promotional strategies. I had it write the first script, and it was good, if a little short. I asked it to rewrite the script, making it longer, dividing it into two parts and throwing in a parody ad. ChatGPT then delivered the podcast you’re about to hear.

This episode proved to be the toughest to produce. Stay tuned for the end of the podcast, where I discuss the future of Talking SciFai.

For this episode, I asked Arnold to break the podcast into three parts and to throw in two parody ads, as an attempt to see if I could get him to produce something longer. But, apparently, even with this attempt, Arnold produced about the same amount of content as he had in the prior episodes. One thing that struck me more with this episode than the prior ones was how Arnold and Irene really didn't seem to interact with each other. It was more like one script and they split the reading between the two of them. As of this point, it still feels like AI can't do a good job with podcasting.

After the success of getting a longer script for Episode 2, I decided to redo Episode 1 and get something longer for that. However, between this episode and the first episode, Arnold had already forgotten what the topic had been for Episode 1. Instead, he provided me with a completely different topic. So, here is what was supposed to be a revision of Episode 1, but instead is now Episode 3 - Star Trek.

When Episode 1 ended, Arnold promised to delve deeper into The Expanse. Between the first and second episode scripts, he apparently forgot. The script for Episode 2 became a discussion of Doctor Who. On the first iteration, the script felt short, so I asked Arnold to give me a longer script. He obliged, keeping the first script intact, but adding examples to back up some statements. This felt a little more solid than the first episode. Arnold also went a little further with the parody ad, adding sound effects, and commenting on the ad as host.

After setting the parameters for our podcast, I asked Arnold to write the script for the first episode. To my surprise, Arnold remembered we would be doing an episode on The Expanse. The other interesting thing was that, as I had mentioned we would be doing a podcast, Arnold wrote the script for two people. Enter Irene, Arnold's co-host. A&I.

Why create this podcast? With the rapid rise of AI-generated chatbots, there is a growing concern about how it will affect creative endeavors. So, I wanted to challenge AI to see if it could create something worth listening to, and to see if the AI improves over time. For my experiment, I am using ChatGPT for the scripts, and Eleven Labs for the voices. As I will be using the pre-generated Arnold voice, I have dubbed my AI podcast host as such.
