With food and medicine blocked, and child malnutrition soaring, the city has become a “kill box.” In this episode of Sudanese Dialogues, we break down the humanitarian catastrophe, the RSF’s siege tactics, and why urgent international action—specifically emergency airdrops of aid—has become the only way to save lives.

Sudanese Dialogues
A Critical Review of the "Sumoud Coalition's Vision to Stop the War in Sudan"

In this episode of Sudan Dialogues, we delve into a critical review of the "Sumoud Coalition's Vision to Stop the War in Sudan". The document, released in mid-June 2025 and titled "A Political Vision to End Wars, Restore the Revolution, and Establish the State", is dissected for its effectiveness and underlying motives. We explore how the vision, despite its length, is perceived as saying "a lot, yet says nothing at all".

The discussion highlights three key paradoxes: the legitimization of militias despite advocating civilian rule, selective accountability that condemns past regimes but silences current atrocities by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and a call for democracy from authors accused of seeking to monopolize power. The episode further examines the document's attempt to portray the current war as an extension of historical Sudanese struggles, rather than a direct result of the RSF's attempted coup in April 2023.

A major point of contention discussed is the vision's failure to explicitly identify the RSF as the primary perpetrator of the humanitarian catastrophe in Sudan, despite reports attributing a significant majority of violations to them. We also analyze the "elephant in the room"—the document's striking avoidance of addressing the fate of the RSF militia, a pivotal party in the conflict, while detailing reforms for the national armed forces. This episode uncovers the contradictions within the vision, questioning its practicality and commitment to a truly civilian and democratic future for Sudan.
