*content warning: birth trauma, NICU experience, medical negligence*
When Shuly’s first baby was born and rushed to the NICU, she couldn’t walk. A nerve injury during delivery left her paralyzed and desperate for answers that didn’t come. Despite obvious signs that something was wrong, her concerns were brushed off again and again.
In this powerful episode, Shuly opens up about her experience with medical negligence, what it was like seeing her newborn connected to tubes while she could barely move, and how that moment shaped her trust in the healthcare system for years to come.
She also shares what healing has looked like: from learning to advocate for herself, to finding calm in nature, and discovering ways to release stress and emotion without letting them control her.
This episode is a reminder that strength isn’t about silence...it’s about using your voice, even when it shakes.

*content warning - gestational diabetes, negative body image, past trauma*
When Kyra was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, it brought back years of body image struggles ...the kind shaped by growing up in the 90s “skinny culture” and by past relationships that made her feel like she wasn’t enough. But what started as a painful reminder became an unexpected path toward healing.
Through her husband’s steady love and God’s gentle hand, Kyra began to see her body not as something to be fixed, but as something fearfully and wonderfully made. This episode is a beautiful reflection on grace, partnership, and how God can redeem even the most painful parts of our stories.

*content warning: addiction, infidelity, divorce, family trauma*
Christy’s journey through the early years of motherhood wasn’t what she expected.
While being pregnant with twin girls, she faced the heartbreak of infidelity and the hidden pain of her then-husband’s drug addiction. Torn between leaving and staying, she was fixated on “the other woman” while the deeper issues unfolded. Christy finally made the decision to leave and start fresh with her daughters, with a little help from a friend who provided much needed and timely clarity on her TRUE reality, not the one she was telling herself. That leap of faith led to open doors: a job, housing, daycare, and eventually a new chapter with a loving husband who adopted her girls as his own.
This is a story of hard choices, unexpected blessings, and the power of walking away from what no longer serves you.

When Ursula gave birth to her son, she didn’t go home to start her new life as a mom…she went to a rehab facility. Severe femoral nerve damage from childbirth left her unable to walk and an autoimmune disease from an infection she had after her water was broken meant ongoing treatments.
In this conversation, Ursula shares what it was like when her son’s “first home” was rehab, the reality of healing while parenting a newborn, and why she’s letting go of picture-perfect expectations. This is a story of perseverance, presence, and learning that what your child will remember isn’t the stroller walks or tidy house…it’s that you were there.

In this episode of Strong as a Mother, Crystal shares something few moms are ever brave enough to say out loud: that in the first few days after giving birth, her newborn daughter felt like a stranger. Postpartum hit hard: the hormonal crash, the emotional overwhelm, and the crushing guilt that she didn't feel instantly bonded.
She opens up about the moment she and her husband got home and looked at each other wondering, "Did we just make the biggest mistake of our lives?" But in the middle of a rare Louisiana snowstorm, something shifted... a nap, a quiet moment, and a flood of unexpected love that changed everything.
Crystal talks about how God's love for us, and our children, is so much bigger than we can comprehend, how that truth has anchored her through early motherhood, and why grace matters most when guilt speaks loudest.
Whether you've felt disconnected in postpartum, wrestled with the guilt of not bonding right away, or just need the reminder that God's love covers even our lowest moments... this episode will meet you there.

In this first episode of Strong as a Mother, I’m sharing the story I never expected to have written in my book.
What should’ve been a joyful postpartum season turned into chaos, medical confusion, nerve damage that left me unable to move just hours after giving birth, a newborn + a walker, and a blood clot I not-so-fondly name Steve. In the middle of it all, I heard God say clearly: “I’ve got you. There’s a bigger plan in place here.”
This is where my refining began: not in the beautiful moments, but in the broken ones.
If you’ve ever found yourself asking, “Why now? Why me? Where is God in this?” I hope my story reminds you that you are not alone…and that God never wastes our pain.
