Hello everyone,
After being one week away, I am back again! In my sixth episode, I sit down with Camille and discuss various topics that are alluring. As usual, we discussed Camille's childhood and upbringing. We have talked about white privilege and white fragility, and how these two concepts are interrelated. Camille perfectly defines these concepts and deeply portrays the different social aspects of these concepts. We further discussed what and how the black identity is portrayed. I hope that you enjoy this episode and if you are interested in continuing this discussion, you can contact Camille on IG: @Camilleoneida.
In my fifth episode, I have invited Awo Abdulqadir who is an Art Director. We have discussed her long journey towards her earning her degree in Advertising and Brand Communications. Awo narrates the highs and lows she encountered during the time she was studying in Kristania Høgskole (College). For me, the highlight of this episode was how Awo has encountered numerous amount of obstacles and how she overcame them. You don't have to study Arts for you to be interested in this episode, but I can assure you that a lot of life lessons can be learned from my sister Awo; don't miss out on the gems she drops in this episode.
In my fourth episode, I have invited Abdibasid who is a live coach. We have spoken about two main topics, mental health and trauma within the Somali community, and towards the end, Abdibasid gives advice on how to developed yourself as person.
In my second episode, I discuss two major topics that are extremely relevant today. In the first part, I throughly speak about how racism and anti blackness has affected black people in Norway. I narrate the stories of several victims that have lost their lives due to this problem we have, unfortunately, many do believe that racism does not exist in Norway; yes i know, it is ironic but true. In the second part, I discuss the ongoing debate about ex-hijabi muslim influencers on social media and the constant critics they face from both muslim and non-muslim communities. I believe that it is important to challenge and create a nuanced discussion around the hijab debate within the muslim community, whilst being respectful and mindful off our sisters who are have faced so much hate from corner.
I hope that you can enjoy this episode with a cup of tea/coffee, have a great day/evening.
In my first episode, me and Naima have discussed the hot topic in all Somali Communities these days, that topic being RAPE. Unfortunately, though rape is something that takes place in every community and nation, we Somalis don't discuss it enough. Recently there has been several brave somali girls who came out with their stories and exposed rapists and predators. Me and Naima have only discussed the tip of the iceberg, but we hope that we can discuss this problem of rape from different angles.
