Norwegian colonialism and South African Apartheid Ft. Grace Tabea Tenga
In my third episode, I have invited one of my friends that I have met in University of Oslo. We have discussed a lot of important topics that concerns the Norwegian history taught in schools and how Norwegians in general stereotypically portray Africans, such as war, famine, poverty, disease, FGM..etc. Though many of us have been taught in schools that Norway has not participated in the Transatlantic slave trade, me and my friend mention and highlight how the Norwegian government has benefited from this trade economically. We carried on discussing the connection between slave trade and how colonialism took place in different forms. Since Grace went on exchange in Cape Town in UCT, she has spoken about how apartheid still affects South Africans today.  Lastly, we have spoken about the murder of the young Danish-Tanzanian engineer that was brutally murdered in George Floyd style by two ethnic Danish brothers. Unfortunately, the media has not brought enough attention to this case, so we tried our best to spread the word and awareness around this racial and hate motivated murder. I hope that you can enjoy the this episode and learn more from the conversation i had with this amazing, intellectual young lady.
