On this week’s episode I am in Conversation with Anele Maphanga who is a PR maven. This episode highlights the versatility of the careers one can pursue with a law degree. After graduating with an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand, Anele decided to pivot into communications, which was a long-life dream! I am enamored by how Anele places God at the centre of her personal and professional life, and also how she doesn’t just deliver messages on behalf of brands but truly uses her talent to tell a story based on truth and accuracy.
Anele is a PR Maven with a gift for story-telling and building relationships. In today’s episode I am in Conversation with Kgomotso Mufamadi who is a seasoned labour law practitioner. We spoke about her colorful upbringing where she reflected on being partially raised in the USA due to her parents being in exile. One of the things I found fascinating about her journey in the legal profession is the fact that she had no interest in labour law when she first started practicing but life had other plans for her. She grew beautifully in this niche where she has not only served as a lecturer on labour law but also served as a commissioner at the CCMA.
In addition, Kgomotso unpacks the various aspects of South African labour law, including recent developments, challenges, and practical applications. The conversation provides valuable insights into the complexities of labour relations and the legal frameworks governing employment in South Africa.
Kgomotso Mufamadi is Chief Executive of Lotus Labour Consulting, a boutique labour law consultancy providing unique, bespoke solutions to clients in the labour relations and the organizational development space. She is an experienced attorney, labour consultant, a former commissioner of the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration and a former lecturer at the University of Johannesburg. She has previously held the role of Head: Industrial and Employee Relations at BMW Group South Africa. Kgomotso is also President of the Wits University Convocation. Kgomotso holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Law, a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Masters in Law degree (Intellectual Property and Media Laws) all from the University of the Witwatersrand. She is not only a seasoned attorney and commissioner, but an experienced manager and board member, well-cited teacher of the law and accredited research professional.
In today’s episode I am in Conversation with Anita Manyama. We spoke about her upbringing in humble beginnings where she was unable to find real stability due to losing her parents at a young age. As a result this meant that she would live with numerous relatives. Throughout the many transition her goal remained the same: get educated no matter the cost. This is a true reminder that our circumstances do not define us and the ultimate course of our lives is determined by our drive, resilience and perseverance.
Anita Manyama holds a law degree from the University of Limpopo. Her passion for law and service of community inspired her to establish her own law firm under the name and style of A Manyama Attorneys Inc where she is founding and Managing Director. She offers a diverse range of legal services and advice which span over the following practice areas: divorce, unlawful arrests, evictions, criminal law, medical negligence and third party claims.
Anita runs a client centric firm where the mission is to ensure that each client is treated with utmost respect and their matters are handled with confidentiality and dignity.

My highlight was hearing about how she had a pleasurable experience during her articles and I believe it is so important to highlight when one has a good experience during articles because the articles experience truly has a bad reputation of being a toxic period in most people’s career stories. Welcome to season 6 of the Sisters In Conversation podcast. In today’s episode I am in Conversation with Tiisetso Mthembu who is General Counsel at a Multinational Corporation. We spoke about her upbringing with a specific focus on how Tiisetso lost her mom to HIV at a time when there was so much stigma around the disease and how losing her mom lead her into a series of traumatic experiences. Tiisetso’s story is a true testament to her resilience because in the face of adversity she continued to push on academically and actively worked her way out of a life of poverty. I am so inspired by today’s conversation and I am reminded of the phrase: “When you put everything in God’s hands, You will see God’s hand in everything”.
I hope you are inspired by Tiisetso’s story and are motivated to stay the course in whatever glory you are pursuing.
