Episode 16: The Daveed Saband and Daveed Sabanding
Ever wanted to know what a conversation between two people who used to ride the bus together in middle school might look like? Well here is your chance! Daveed and I go way back, and we crossed paths when we were both back home for the pandemic. We talk about music, Daveed's creative journey, some of the inspiration he has had. This is a story of the power of grunge rock to make shady workplaces a romantic getaway and seasonal depression a downhill slalom of black sludge. I do not know what that sentence even fully means, but welcome to this episode.

Filler Episode: Quebec, Driving, and New Music in New Places
This week we talk about why I have been so horrible at keeping up with my show, particularly my move to rural Quebec and some of the music discovered in the meantime. I talk about music we listen to when driving, Andy Shauf`s new song from `Wilds` Jaywalker, some comments about Quebec culture (from my limited first-year Poli-Sci courses), and mention some of the music I was lucky to find at FME (Festival de Musique Emergente) in Rouyn-Noranda QC. Join me as I go where no British Columbian has gone before... actually, I am sure someone from BC has come here at least once... but maybe not who knows!

Join us this week for a more unstructured episode where I talk to my roommate Tomer about finding confidence, building a relationship with nature and how to just vibe to music. This episode will be sure to put you in a pensive mood.

When the pandemic started getting bad, the two left town for Powell River where they devoted months to the creation of a new album and a few new singles. Join me as I talk to Dream Babe about their influences for their new single “Glow”, what it means to be a Canadian indie band, and a whole wack more!

Episode 8: Aydan and the Journey from Edmonton
Aydan is a student, a sociologist, a creator, and a dreamer. These are all adjectives I found in the thesaurus but I think Aydan would agree, I hope Aydan would agree. We talk about first year, making friends, finding one's self, and what it feels like now to be in 4th year and still a bit clueless about the world. This playlist has pop influences and a strong female presence, all-around great energy!

EPISODE 6 – DECEMBER 22TH – GILBERT
Gilbert is a professionally trained chef, a makeup fiend, and in the strange position of being simultaneously introverted and very social at the same time (it is very confusing even to Sean). Gilbert is in his 4th year at UBC studying food nutrition and health and has had an interesting past with relationships and developing his queer identity. Join us as we talk about growing up gay, finding community with fellow queers, and what it’s like to be an Asian man in the gay community.

Episode 5: Karene and the Evolution of... well... Karene
Karene is the mother to an undisclosed number of plants, she will not tell me the exact number in case she accidentally kills one (don’t tell The Ministry). She is the proud giver of a HelloFresh coupon to Sean who received 4 free meals (true friendship), a sustainable energy engineering major at Simon Fraser University, and a longtime friend. Join me as I ask Karene about her mid-degree crisis, love while in co-op, self-discovery, and all the good jams that went with it. We also talk about the legendary Tove Lo… which I don’t think anyone wants to miss.

Episode 4 - Liam and the tale of Despooktober
*Please note that this episode had some volume issues at the beginning, this does not persist throughout the recording.*

Liam is a 3rd-year Asian Studies major at UBC, hailing from the great state of Ohio in the US of A. When he isn’t stressed about school, he likes making a mean pot roast, going for late-night adventures, and (From Sean’s Perspective) flat out vibing. In this week’s episode, we talk about friendships, the revolutionary holiday of Despooktober, and the music that goes with the two. You won’t want to miss this largely instrumental week of ooky-spooky tunes.

Episode 3: Claire and the Abbotsford Hipsters
This week we interview Claire, an up and coming visual artist, a fan of banana pudding (to Sean’s confusion), a friend, and a nurse on the side. Hailing from Abbotsford BC, Claire’s relationship with music has been shaped by folky influences that run deep in the Fraser Valley. Her mix of contemporary folk, indie, and instrumentals, paired with rich influences from the 70s folk scene allows for a compelling look into her season of life. In this episode, we talk about Abbotsford hipsters, reclaiming power in sex, and the inevitabilities of dating a musician.

*Please note that in this episode we discuss sexual violence. If you need support with similar situations don’t hesitate to reach out to my good friends at UBC’s Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office or the AMS’ Sexual Violence Support Center

Regardless of your Gender, Sex, Race, Ethnicity or Sexual Orientation help is available and you are not alone!
