In this episode of the Rox Lyfe podcast I’m chatting with Hugo Hugemark (@athletehugo).
Hugo recently captained the Sweden relay team at the HYROX World Championships and has a PB of 56:32 in the Men’s Pro division — and just wait until you hear what he did the day before, and even the morning of, setting that PB - it’s pretty incredible!
He's become known in HYROX for his relentless work ethic but there is much more to him than just being a hard worker - he has a laser focused mindset, and takes an intelligent, calculated approach to performance.
We get into some brilliant stuff in this one — from the mental side of training, to the test protocols he uses to track his progress in training, the role of treadmills in HYROX prep, why so many people get the Ergs wrong, and how to actually structure volume and intensity for you.

Jake Dearden (@jakedearden_) returns to the Rox Lyfe podcast after a huge year of progress. Since we last spoke, Jake has:
– Run a 2:28 marathon in Berlin
– Qualified for the HYROX Elite 15
– Set a Pro Doubles world record with James Kelly
– Been named England team captain for the relay at the 2025 HYROX World Championships
