“Creating Hope Through Action” is the theme for World Suicide Prevention Day, which is observed on September 10, 2025.
“One More Day” has been a theme for Revive Ministries Podcast for a couple of years. Having served as a mental health professional for almost 5 years, and being a survivor of a suicide attempt, I feel this month is a very important one.
“Hope is not the absence of pain, but the presence of light.”— Unknown.
For the survivors of loved ones who have completed suicide, this quote speaks volumes to me.
“Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love.”— Unknown.
September is National Recovery Month, which focuses on emphasizing recovery from substance use and mental health challenges through improvements in health, home, community, and purpose.

Welcome to Revive Ministries Podcast.
This month’s theme is “Healing Our Communities,” which dives into some questions like, “How can I help?” Whether you’re a caretaker or suffering, I have seen strong communities be very helpful towards healing. Sometimes I think of a comedian I once watched, and the paraphrased quote that I continue to tell myself and those I assist: “Don’t be the mayor of nothing.”
When I was struggling with my condition, I spent countless hours trying to be understood while feeling more and more like a burden. I had to reframe and accept that it did not require others to understand to get the support needed. Healing communities provide that safe space to gain this insight, speaking from experience.
"The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members." – Coretta Scott King.
Today, we have Melissa Vera to discuss this month's theme.
