Madison Inteviewed Zara Jones of Thorne Habour Country about the monthly meet-up Bendigo Morning Cuppa. They discussedcreating spaces for regional queer communal gathering and information sharinghow such spaces can encourage greater understanding between members of various intersections of the queer community.Madison also spoke to Piani, a Morning Cuppa participant about the benefits of joining in.We also heard from trans disability advocate Jax Brown, as they were a panelist for Rainbow Inclusive Voices' celebration of LGBTIA+ Disability Pride. They spoke tothe differences between advocacy and activism,how disability access can be problematic at the most 'inclusive' of venues,how sexuality and intimacy remains a realm requiring disabilty activism,the challenges in gaining continuity in funding for disability rights issues that cannot be solved with the funds from one short-term grant.Madison then outlines some of the insights shared by the Rainbow Inclusive Voices panel, before allowing Skye de Vent, an audience member at this celebration, to have the last word.

On this episode:We heard an extract of 3CR's podcast series 'Queer Histories, Queer Futures'; where Richard Watts describes his past as a 'queer punk', and how this spurred him to create the Naarm based queer punk zine 'Burning Times' in 1995.We discussed with Jackie Turner, of the Trans Justice Project, their campaign calling on Federal election candidates to make a public commitment toprotect trans youth from attacks on their health care,make trans healthcare accessible and affordable for everyone who needs it,support reforms that give trans people the same rights and protections as everyone else andinvest in trans lives by combatting homelessness, poverty, and unemployment.  

In this episode:We were joined by James Houghton of Thorne Harbour Health, on behalf of the ReWired program; a free group support program for gay, bi+, and queer men (cis and trans) who want to change their methamphetamine use and manage their mental health.We heard the perspectives of some patrons of the launch of the Wicked Women Reboot photographic exhibition. Having on previous episodes featured the event organisers, the photographers and the photographic models during the photo shoot; we try to complete the loop by listening to the view of the queer folk who now attend the event and appreciate the work. This was followed by the studio panel reflecting on some of the insights that these patrons shared.The panel discussed with James the importance of grouping together as fellow queers to help each other in times of strife; using the James' experience as a co-ordinator of the ReWired program as an excellent example.

In this episode:Atlas interviews Blair from Frutti Loops, a queer crafts drop-in and hangout event held every second Sunday; about the event and the joy of creating queer space.Madison, Atlas, Oscar and Nimble discuss how creating queer spaces helps foster a sense of second family; which in turn can provide safety to discuss and share otherwise hazardous topics. Atlas interviews attendees of the re-launch of the Affirmation Station, including Transgender Victoria's CEO Son Vivienne.Nimble shared with the team their experiences as a participant in the Key Change Choir.We listened and reflected on the thoughts shared by Trans activist Bee, at the Trans Day of Visibility Rally; about the dispicable treatment of many Trans migrant sex workers in recent times by Federal authorities.

In this episode:We took some time to wonder at the fantastic programming that had proceeded the show, by a range of trans, gender diverse and non-binary talent, as part of 3CR's Trans Day of Audibility.Madison and Atlas reflected on the nature of voice, including Madison's comfort with the low voice that 30 years of testosterone will give a trans woman prior to going on HRT, and the wonderful voice change experienced by many trans masc persons as proceed with taking 'T'.We listened to a variety of clips taken from previous episodes of Queering the Air, where TGDNB activists, performers, writers and other community members have mused on the nature of 'Trans Visibility / Audibility; being seen and heard.Then, Madison, Atlas and Oscar continued the discussion on the importance of being seen and heard; reflecting on the many inspiring points raised by community members in the clips we played.

On today’s session, Madison Moffat shared some very sad news regarding the Queering The Air team; purely coincidentally, both Sasja Sydek and Seena Katayama are departing from 3CR. Seena has found an amazing career opportunity elsewhere in the media industry that sadly requires her to only perform such work with her new employer. Sasja has been a mainstay of Queering The Air. For a significant period she held the show up on her own while working hard to develop a team. Sasja has decided to sharpen her focus on  other obligations, and so departs QTA following an amazing contribution.
