Queering the Air is a radical weekly radio show on 3CR that amplifies the voices, cultures, and struggles of LGBTQIA+ communities - especially those often excluded from mainstream media. Grounded in queer, anti-racist, feminist, and anti-capitalist perspectives, the show features interviews, music, discussions, and news with a focus on justice, solidarity, and community care. Produced collectively, Queering the Air connects queer liberation to broader movements like prison abolition, migrant justice, and disability rights. We spotlight trans people, people of colour, sex workers, and others resisting systemic oppression. More than a show, Queering the Air is a queer commons building networks of resistance, mutual aid, and creativity across so-called Australia. Support us by donating, collaborating, or tuning in. Send us your demos, flyers, or zines: Queering The Air – 3CR, 21 Smith St, Fitzroy VIC 3065 We’re not just broadcasting stories—we’re building queer futures. A Sad Farewell to Sasja and Seena
Queering The Air

A Sad Farewell to Sasja and Seena
On today’s session, Madison Moffat shared some very sad news regarding the Queering The Air team; purely coincidentally, both Sasja Sydek and Seena Katayama are departing from 3CR. Seena has found an amazing career opportunity elsewhere in the media industry that sadly requires her to only perform such work with her new employer. Sasja has been a mainstay of Queering The Air. For a significant period she held the show up on her own while working hard to develop a team. Sasja has decided to sharpen her focus on  other obligations, and so departs QTA following an amazing contribution. She will be sorely missed here at Queering The Air; it simply will not the same show without her. This episode focusses on some of the work that Seena and Sasja has performed in recent times, to showcase the value they gave to the program, before wishing them every success. We also hear again from Stacey Stokes about some of the experiences of queer people within the incarceration system, by way of introducing a new spoken word event, featuring those voices, to be held at the Affirmation Station in the near future (awaiting the AF's moving and settling into their new premises).Community Links:TGV and Sephora, Classes for Confidence [in makeup and beauty], Sephora at Melbourne Central, Cnr LaTrobe and Swanston Streets, Melbourne.
