Why are medications so complicated?

Take a pill and it will all be better. Unfortunately, some cultures have the message that medications will solve everything. While we don't believe that is true, medications can be helpful. They can also be very complicated. This episode we are discussing our experience with medications and psychiatry as both professionals and people who take medications themselves. We are not prescribing or making medical recommendations but hope this episode can be helpful in learning how to talk about what you need to your supports and to professionals.

I Don't Like What I See

How we view ourselves can be really complicated. Unfortunately, culture and social media can place a lot importance on outer appearance. Along with this can come challenges with body image and our relationship with food. Trauma can make this even more complex. This week we are talking about our struggles with body image and disordered eating and ways we have tried to manage it.

This podcast may contain themes of trauma, flashbacks, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. For help please contact the Suicide Hotline. You can call or text 988 or visit https://988lifeline.org/current-events/the-lifeline-and-988/.

More Letters?!

We continue our conversation about the challenges of co-occurring disorders and how this may present. This week we are focusing on somatization or how our bodies physically react to emotions and trauma. We will also be talking about the various ways our attention can be affected by trauma and our mental health. More or less, trauma affects all of the things, including our physical health and how well we are able to interact with the world around us.

ABCDEF...what letters again?

Diagnoses can be really confusing. There's depression, anxiety, PTSD, personality disorders, DID, and all the other things. Then there's acronyms like MDD, GAD, OCD, and the list goes on. It can be even more confusing when different people in your body have different diagnoses. We want to talk about what these diagnoses can actually look like and what some of the symptoms are. Our hope is that this will help you feel less alone in some of the symptoms you may be experiencing and help to make sense of the sometimes conflicting feelings that someone with DID can have.
