Duke University’s iPod education program for all freshmen in fall of 2004, along with a follow-up program with other pilot universities, lead to the creation of iTunes U.

Planning days are also used to develop podcasts on science, reading, and writing for students.

Teachers and students use the MacBook to record student progress reports. These digital student conferences are put on an iPod touch and sent home to parents along with a parent form. School video newsletters are also created on the MacBook and put on an iPod touch that goes home to parents.
