To conclude Series 1 of the Men's Health Matters podcast, Cameron Gyss sits down with two of his best mates, Callum and Tom and has a frank conversation about men's health, and discusses what they feel are some of the important health issues facing young men. Cameron wasn't sure how this would pan out, given the subject matter was a bit foreign amongst friends. Instead, it ended up being a great session with all of them being more than happy, when asked the questions, to share their own experiences and views on such matters as mental health, masculinity and manhood in the modern day, sexual health, and going to the doctor. They recognise that their opinions and attitudes are their own and will differ to other young men men with their own unique backgrounds, experiences and opportunities. See you for Series 2 at some point.

Men's Health Matters Alison Barrett - ifarmwell
In this podcast, Research Assistant Alison Barrett, a farmer's daughter from Yorke Peninsula - SA, talks with Cameron about ifarmwell. Developed in partnership with Aussie farmers, ifarmwell takes strategies that clinical psychologists use to help people deal with situations beyond their control, and delivers these through an on-line confidential self-help resource. The ifarmwell project, led by Dr Kate Gunn (also of farming origin) from the University of South Australia (UniSA), was funded by the NAB Foundation, with additional funding from the Freemasons Foundation, the Freemasons Foundation Centre for Men's Health at the University of Adelaide and UniSA, and the collaboration includes these organisations and the National Centre for Farmers Health, VIC, and Livestock SA.

Dr Adel Aref Weighing in on obesity and the PSA test
In this podcast, I speak with Medical Oncologist and PhD student Dr Adel Aref who weighs in on the issue of obesity and how it may influence the results of PSA testing for prostate cancer. His research confirms that obesity in men reduces levels of PSA and changes in testosterone and oestrogen are implicated. More than 65% of Aussie men are overweight or obese - so interesting implications for GP screening.

Dr Sarah Appleton - The Sleeping Giant
For this podcast, I talk to Dr Sarah Appleton, Post-doc Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide, about sleep hygiene. We all know that good sleep hygiene is crucial for good physical and mental health and well-being, equal to that of good nutrition and keeping fit.  Sarah provides a run down of the findings from their recently completed National Sleep Survey which provided a snap shot of the extent of sleep problems in the community. Enjoy.. Cameron

Mr Kootsy Canuto: "Half sick" & gender-specific GP services.
In this podcast, I chat with Kootsy about his discussions with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men on going to the Doctor. He talks about the concept of being "half sick" and how the delivery of GP services doesn't work for many Indigenous guys; something that does nothing to address the gaps in health between Indigenous and non-Indigenous men. Kootsy, a sociology graduate, sees the benefits of gender-specific services. He says he didn't make it as a rugby player, so he is pursuing a career in research to make a difference to men's health and well-being. Kootsy is in his final year of his PhD at the Aboriginal Research Unit at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute.
