Zoe is back on Lit Hein to recap the first two weeks of Love Island USA season 7! We talk about our favorite Islanders, least favorite Islanders, funny moments and drama as we get ready for Casa Amore to start soon!
Mackenzie Oster, NYC-based writer and fabulous single girl about town, joins Lit Hein to talk about dating in NYC and how to make your dating profile better.
We break down what makes a great Hinge opener, the best (and worst) messages she’s ever gotten, and share dating app tips—including how to take better profile pictures and avoid coming off... well, like a total freak.
We play Chic or Freak and do rapid fire dating questions. We cover topics like:
Please remember in the Literally Heinous universe, hot takes and controversial opinions are always welcome! So don't be clutching your pearls ;)
This episode is a jetlagged love letter to travel, comedy, nightlife, and grief. I break down my recent trip to Spain and Lisbon, where I realized—maybe I’m not built for travel? I was tired the whole time and weirdly self-conscious about it. I also talk about my last stand-up show, which was at my childhood synagogue in Atlanta. It was lowkey the best night of my life, and I haven’t performed since—I flew too close to the sun.
I've been sooo mysterious about recent work I did with The Box (yes, that nightclub), and I'm sharing it now. I got to do PR work for one of their events, and it was wild, glamorous, chaotic—in the best way—and I learned a ton.
To close, I talk about how to support friends who are grieving the loss of a parent, which is something that's been popping up for me. I share what I’ve learned about showing up, saying the right things and just being there.
Imagine someone who grew up homeschooled in a conservative, religious family in Nebraska—sounds like a memoir Reese Witherspoon is optioning for a film, right? Well, that’s not Logan Graves.
Logan is a musical theatre performer, stand-up comedian, tatted-up, and mulleted leftist icon who is BORN to live in Bushwick, but instead is single-handedly saving the deep Midwest. In this episode, we talk about what it’s like growing up in a world that didn’t see him—and how he now uses his bold external presentation to stay in control of how he’s perceived.
We also unpack our shared experience on We Are Family (where he was a fan favorite and lowkey heartthrob ?!), and naturally compare our experience filming a cable TV game show to filming White Lotus. We talk about how people love to project stories onto Logan just because he dresses like he’s in a band you’ve never heard of.
This ep is about self-expression, reinvention, and the surprising power of a great haircut. Enjoy !!
NYC singer-songwriter and jazz performer Nick Cesares joins Literally Heinous to talk about how mentorship from Phil Collins (yes, Tarzan Phil Collins) and reality TV have shaped his journey as a musician.
We talk about the songwriting and production process, reminisce about the show where we first met, and swap stories about life in NYC. I make my case for why I have every right to judge new transplants—even though I’m one myself—and we debate whether complaining to public offices makes you a Karen.
His latest single “Lavish” is out now and you can catch him live on 3/27 performing with City Love in Brooklyn
NEW GUEST ALERT! Literally Heinous welcomes my high school friend-turned-NYC partner-in-crime, Genna Cifelli. Finally, I get to vent about the worst city of all time—Washington, DC—with someone who actually lived there. We get into why everyone in DC is the worst person you’ve ever met and why the fuck they’re all obsessed with brunch (spoiler: because they’re lame).
We also talk Oscars—including The Substance (which I hated, SORRY), complain about the soul-crushing open mic scene, and debate whether we should keep subjecting ourselves to it. And, of course, we relive the absolute fever dream that was our high school experience—nameswill be dropped.
(01:26) Living in DC
(13:14) Movie discussion (the substance)
(28:29) Comedy scene in NYC
(34:54) Sober era and NYC dining culture
(44:44) Stories from our crazy ass high school
New to the Literally Heinous Cinematic Universe, Abby Poirier joins me to dive deep into the Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell breakup and Rachael's appearance on Call Her Daddy. After four years together, the Bachelor couple—once considered one of the strongest in recent history—has officially called it quits. Matt’s cryptic 6 a.m. God-fearing breakup post left fans with more questions than answers, and Rachael didn’t hold back on Call Her Daddy Tuesday night. We’re breaking down the biggest revelations she gave during the episode.
00:00-07:35 - Backstory and Rachael's controversy
07:35 - The break up

~*~SEASON 3 OF LITERALLY HEINOUS~*~
My lifelong BFF is back on Lit Hein to usher in the third season of my first born child. We recap my birthday show and the lingering post partum depression from my first live show. I was DREADING my birthday show... but it ended up being even better than my first show back in August! We talk about how I found my headliners and my magician and the secret to planning the perfect after party.
Zoe updates us on her new job and how she's still missing her ex boyfriend (her last internship). We talk about LinkedInfluencers and some of the crazy stuff we've seen on that diabolical website we can't get enough of.
In a new Lit Hein original, we discuss CHIC OR FRIC?: relationship edition. We talk engagements and babies, two topics we have no first-hand experience with.
Enjoy!!
My new NYC friend, Carmel Barsh, makes her Lit Hein (and podcast) debut. Carmel joins Lily as a newly single, straight-curious NYC comedian ready to share her thoughts on sexuality, geography and religion.
In this episode, Carmel and I discuss her coming out story and how she told her friends and family she is gay (it's not sad, don't worry). We also talk about men (trigger warning) and what her type would be now that she's straight curious. We also talk about the agony of being Jewish in the Brooklyn comedy scene and how we're not special.
This episode is a TWO FOR ONE. Part one, I recorded a few days after my show once I had time to catch my breath and reflect on the night and the months of planning. I've grown and matured significantly in the last couple of months, which is due to several factors, but planning this show put me in the best mental place I've been in in a very long time. Literally Heinous is NOT a mental health/self care podcast (some may argue it's the opposite), but I felt compelled to share the steps I've taken to improve my mental health and body image issues and what effects I've experienced.
The good news is, I'm still literally heinous. Taylor and I recorded what is the second half of this episode (34:24) the morning after my comedy show. We are hungover, hair messy, eyelashes askew feral rats and we give alllll the details of the show and all the hot goss that ensued. We had no filter, and I'm lazy with editing. Jack even makes his Lit Hein debut to give his thoughts on the night.
SEE YOU AT THE NEXT LIT HEIN?!
My delusions got the best of me, and I went rogue: I am hosting a comedy show and dance party in NYC. And it sold out in 24 hours!!!!! I've been working on this event since the end of May, and it's almost here! I'm taking you guys through how I came up with the idea and how I pulled everything together. I talk about securing the venue, getting my lineup, the naming debacle and the sick promo photos Colin Mortemore took.
Be sure to listen/watch this episode. My next episode will be a recap of the event!
my BFF Zoe Johnston is back on Lit Hein, and guess what? we are back in the same city! after 2 years of living together, and 5 months living apart, Zoe joined me in NYC.
on this episode, I talk to Zoe about her moving experience, apartment hunting, cohabitating with her boyfriend and what her thoughts on the city are. we talk about the NYC comedy scene and what Brooklyn open mics are like. we also talk about thrifting in NYC, and Zoe gives thrifting and vintage shopping 101. enjoy!!
*note* i have NO idea what this weird, AI thumbs down bubble is at random points in the video.... working with my IT team to figure it out
oh wow this is a special one!!!! seven months ago, I finished filming season 1 of a celebrity guessing game show. it was the most whirlwind, life-changing experience I could have hoped for. I'm so excited to share my experience with you all. I talk about what prompted me to apply to be a contestant, the casting process, the show itself, my Suge Knight moment and some funny memories of filming the show. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed filming it!
*this episode is not affiliated with Fox or any other entity*
my dad joins Literally Heinous to give a crash course on OJ Simpson for all of us who were too young to remember or not born during the scandal. the OJ scandal to my dad is what Taylor vs Kim is to me. in the second half of the episode, we give our thoughts on Taylor Swift's new album, Tortured Poets Department, and I give my dad some background on some of the songs' meanings. enjoy!!!
(00:00 - 29:45) - OJ Simpson
(29:45 - 46:45) - Taylor Swift
Taylor Peterson and Madeline Schneider are certified girly pop film bros and joining Lit Hein to give their thoughts on the 2024 Oscars and the films nominated. We discuss the Lily Gladstone/Emma Stone race, Cillian Murphy being adorable all the time, the pity party of Bradley Cooper and some celebrity blind items at the event you may not have heard.
Lit Hein favorite Duke Puterbaugh is back on the pod and we are deep diving on our #1 girl, Ariana Grande. Duke and I are die hard Stans and Ariana historians, so you're going to want to learn from us. We go back in time and talk about Ariana's climb to fame and the relationships and drama that set up her 7th album, Eternal Sunshine. We talk about why we love her and give pieces of Ariana lore that make her her.
We give background on the context of the album: why, when and how it was made. We go track by track and talk about what each songs mean and which ones our are favorite. You don't want to miss this one. Listen to the album and let us know what you think!
Rita Rae Roxx invented "it girl" behavior. Have you ever been to a concert and seen the cool, pretty girl in one-of-a-kind clothing who the artists can't take their eyes off of? That was and is Rita. Well, at the beginning of her night -- before she got invited backstage, and then back to the hotel, duh.
As a teen in Omaha, she made it her life's mission to go to every concert she could and hang out (and sometimes more *wink*) with rockstars. For decades, Rita has built relationships with rockstars that wrote classics, and she has the stories and pictures to back it up. Rita and I met on our gameshow, and I knew I needed her to come on Lit Hein and tell her juicy and hilarious stories.
Check out her book, Once Upon a Rockstar, but reach out to me or Rita to buy a copy directly from her! Support your local rock goddess ;)
*or at least that's what i'm convincing myself i'm doing
today, i'm talking about how i filled 8 days of being alone in NYC while my boyfriend was out of state. i *hate* being alone. it's a recipe for death spiraling, doom scrolling, self sabotaging tendencies, especially being so new to the city and not knowing anyone. here is how i filled my 8 days of loneliness and was able to talk myself off several very tall somethings.
in this episode, i talk about my strict rules about week night, post-work activities, the difficulty of being "new in town" and the most INSANE, DIABOLICAL off-Broadway play.
spoilers for Job the Play (21:23) - (25:34)
Lit Hein bestie Maeve Conway joins the podcast today to debrief the Grammys! We talk about Miley Cyrus and her epic wins and performance. I give my uncut thoughts on Taylor Swifts wins and album announcement (please don't come for me). We finish the conversation with our favorite topic, Barbie, and the realizations we've had about the movie now that we're six months away from it. Enjoy!
I am back with a solo episode providing a two month update on living in NYC! A lot of changes and realizations happened since my first NYC episode, and I'm here with a full update on what life has been like since moving here.
I also talk about Ariana Grande and her homewrecking allegations, a topic I've put off discussing for awhile. I compare it to other recent celebrity scandals and explain why I'm still loyal to my girl.
