Damiano is a young man and lives his everyday life being carried along by events, until suddenly life takes him to Mozambique. It's a place he gets to know through the eyes of an inexperienced traveller. He searches for the girl he has fallen madly in love with, who seems to have disappeared. Following her trail, Damiano crosses a country that surprises him with its dynamism, its contrasts, the presence of international interests, and its environmental and social challenges. But also with its music, art, activism, superstition—his own and others'. Someone at the Ponta Luz clinic is paying doctors and nurses to keep Tina sedated, to keep her secretly asleep in bed so she won't talk. What does Tina know? What has she seen? What could she reveal that is dangerous? Damiano, Letizia and Edilson work in the shadows until they manage to bring her out of the pharmacological coma.
Those who attacked Tina did not intend to kidnap her, they wanted to kill her. The figure of Tina's father is at the centre of the suspicions of everyone in Beira. Damiano and Edilson turn to a local curandeira, who will provide shocking new revelations.
Damiano discovers that the lawyer Salgado was aware of the events at the Golden Peacock Hotel. Tina has been in a private clinic in a pharmacological coma for weeks. There are still many unanswered questions: Who was with her that night? What did they do to her?
Listening compulsively to the last voice mail sent by Tina, Damiano goes back to the place where his girlfriend entered before disappearing, the Golden Peacock Hotel Casino in Beira's Chinatown. The records of the Grand Hotel lead to incredible new revelations.
In Beira Damiano meets Letizia and Edilson, who are working on the international cooperation project ‘Mudar’. Tina's father, lawyer Patricio Salgado, represents the powerful gas multinationals working in Cabo Delgado, where the largest natural gas field on earth was discovered in 2017. The suspicion is that Tina has been kidnapped with the aim of blackmailing her father. Meanwhile, Damiano discovers that someone from Maputo has followed him to Beira.
Damiano tries unsuccessfully to track down Tina's relatives: in Maputo he beats every possible trail, including that of the Estrela black market. The meeting with the musician Celia leads to a new revelation. Tina has been spotted in Beira, where they think she has been kidnapped.
Damiano decides to leave for Maputo, following Tina’s trail, retracing the days that followed the controversial death of the Mozambican rapper Azagaia. In the capital, Horacio is waiting for him, and with him, a long series of twists and turns.
Where has Tina gone? Why did she leave her room and flat without telling anyone? Why doesn't she answer her messages? What happened to her? What is strange and unusual about that last voice mail sent to Damian?
Tina is 23 years old and comes from a powerful family in Beira, the second largest city in Mozambique. She is in Europe to study law and to escape the pressures of her father, one of the most important lawyers in the country. Tina and Damian pursue each other, dating for some time, but when passion seems to have overwhelmed them both, Tina disappears into thin air.
Damiano works as a cook at Rigoletto, a typical trattoria that has changed clientele a few months ago. A series of positive reviews have completely transformed the restaurant and lengthened the waiting lists. For some time now, a feeling of rejection of the food has grown in him and he is contemplating quitting his job. During an argument between customers he ends up in the emergency room, where he meets Tina.
A story full of mystery and suspense that intertwines with local news events at a narrative level: the death of the rapper Azagaia, the gas crisis in the Cabo Delgado province and the practice of black magic. An audio series presented in three languages—Italian, Portuguese, and English—aimed at bridging Europe and Africa by using a fresh narrative approach. It tells Europe’s story to Africans and Africa’s story to Europeans, creating a dialogue between Italy and Mozambique; two worlds that, for different reasons, are both experiencing a season of profound change.
