However, during a sudden snowstorm one night, she unexpectedly connects with Sarah, a girl navigating the challenging high school landscape of 2001. With Emma's downward spiral picking up speed, the urgency of her need for help becomes more critical than ever. Stuck two decades in the past, Sarah must discover a way to step in before it’s too late. I had an absolute blast having Candace MacPhie on my podcast! She's truly an inspiring individual, and our chat was incredibly captivating. Candace hails from Montreal, Quebec, and has spent years exploring the globe while backpacking and working. With a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA under her belt, she has amassed two decades of experience across four continents but now calls Calgary, Alberta, her home.
After getting married and starting a family, life got pretty hectic, and time flew by as her kids quickly grew up. To prioritize family, she made the bold choice to leave her job and focus on home life. During the COVID lockdown, with a bit more time on her hands, she decided to dive into writing and launched the "Back in a Year" series. Currently, she has three series: the first one is "Finding Color," the second is "Life Strikes Back," and her latest is "Hello, I Am Here." Candace's recent book, *Hello, I Am Here*, tells the story of her adventure with a ticket to travel the world, setting her sights on the Middle East. But instead of diving into her travels, she's stuck in Prague, pining for a guy who made it clear he doesn't love her. What keeps her there? It's like kryptonite holds her back. Together, they roam through the Czech Republic and Germany, indulging in way too many peanut butter sandwiches and avoiding their feelings—until they can't any longer.
When she finally boards a plane to meet up with her Australian friends, each step she takes through the scorching Middle Eastern heat brings a whole new set of challenges. Her escapades in Europe seem like a walk in the park compared to what lies ahead. This book captures her journey, showcasing the obstacles she faces and how she manages to push through against all odds.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to interview Doug Lawrence on my podcast, and it was an experience unlike any other. We dived into a wide range of significant topics, and having Doug on the show was a true highlight for me. One moment that really struck me was when I asked him why he chose the title "Grief" for his book. He shared that the book is a heartfelt dedication to his wife, who he tragically lost during the pandemic, and that just broke my heart. I can't even imagine the pain of losing someone you’ve loved for years. Doug is remarkably strong and so composed.
For those who may not know, Doug Lawrence is the founder of TalentC® and a proud co-founder of the International Mentoring Community (IMC). With over 40 years of experience in leadership and mentoring, he stands out as the only person worldwide to hold the Certificate of Practice – Journey Mentor, awarded by the IMC. As a trained Journey Mentor, he plays a pivotal role in guiding fellow mentors through the certification process offered by the IMC.
The Journey Mentor plays a significant role in being a part of the support structure for mentor health. This requires that the Journey Mentor be able to provide a deeper, richer mentoring experience. Now he has his newest book "Grief". Grief is a profound and universal experience, a natural response to the loss of someone or something deeply cherished. Yet, for many, the journey through grief is made even more difficult by a lack of personal understanding and a society rife with misconceptions about what it means to grieve. This widespread misunderstanding has contributed to a mental health pandemic, leaving countless individuals feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and without the tools to heal.
In Grief the Silent Pandemic, Doug Lawrence offers a guiding light in the darkness of loss. Drawing from decades of experience as a grief mentor and the deeply personal pain of losing his beloved wife, Lawrence provides a compassionate and insightful exploration of the grieving process.
The Journey Mentor holds an important place in the support system for mentor well-being, which means they need to offer a more meaningful and enriching mentoring experience. Now, his latest book, "Grief." Grief is a deep and universal feeling—it's a natural reaction to losing someone or something we hold dear. Unfortunately, the path through grief can be even more challenging for many due to a lack of personal insight and a society filled with misconceptions about grieving. This widespread confusion has sparked a mental health crisis, leaving many people feeling lonely, overwhelmed, and without the necessary tools for healing. With raw honesty and profound empathy, he delves into the complexities of grief, shedding light on the emotional, psychological, and societal challenges it presents. With a genuine approach and deep understanding, he explores the many layers of grief, highlighting the emotional, mental, and social hurdles it brings.
You can find out more about the book "Grief" on Doug's website http://www.talentc.ca and available on Amazon, Goodreads, and at bookstores and websites everywhere!
